Dear Garry, very interesting progress! Beautiful how you’ve incorporated your family history into the story of the layout. Love the terraced houses. Never mind the gaps, I’m sure you’ll find the time to get them filled up very soon. Very much liked what you’ve said on the road bridge. Can indeed imagine you will revisit the bridge, if only to add some extra details. In all humility, and at first glance, the road bridge looks its part. Very much like how you did the lower end, with those rather pronounced curved edges, I suppose where the perpendicular support beams team up with the longitudinal ones. Cool feature that’s visible on many of these types of road bridges. The pronounced form of these sort of demand some kind of utility piping going alongside the bridge’s side. The different columns and how they’re interconnected may require some embossed plates to simulate riveting. The bridge pillars unfortunately look somewhat out of place. Don’t know how you would like to revise the bridge in the future? Think those pillars are indeed in need of a tweak. Just in case when you’ll revisit the design of the bridge; it may help to form the bridge in such a way the load of the bridge will indeed be transferred to the supports. That’s what makes the bridge look a little odd right now. Anyhow, hope you won’t take my words too seriously or too much as a critique. Am just trying and reflecting on my viewing experience. And most importantly, if you might not agree, I’ll just submit to your decision, because after all it’s your layout. Very much appreciate the work and effort you’ve put in, both railroad wise and vid wise! Cheerio

Many thanks for the information this is very helpful Thanks 👍 I Guess theres a mountain of things to add like you have noted so I will keep this all to hand for reference, 😉 For me the concept is about getting the scene and the landscape look and then to bring the detail after - it's the crazy way my mind works to build. Im someone who needs to see the vision first LOL - I mentioned when I started the build last year that I want it to be able to be altered rather than pristine if this makes sense - I lust love the revisit and tinker stage LOL But I really do appreciate your support 👍 All the very best Garry

Thanks Garry for giving us a fresh review about what is going on on your nice layout! Its always a pleasure to watch what you have done. The new 3d houses, beeing inspired by your grandparents house, are really nice! Btw., a friend of mine has bought a Class 08 in gauge 0, he wants to use it as an private industrial loco on his upcoming layout. And I know that it is not the only shunting loco of this type that works on a German 0 gauge layout. I like it too, but it does not fit into my layout theme. Stay well! Best regards from Düsseldorf, Germany , Dirk

Hi Dirk Thanks for the comment - Yeah I think the houses worked well - it's really nice being able to knock buildings out as I require. I Do Love O gauge and yeap I too have a O gauge Shunter but I don't run it - I may make a very very small diorama to shunt 🤔 in time LOL Train hey LOL Take care and all the best wishes Garry 👍

Thank you very much! And Yes you are most certainly correct, I know I can make something and for me its all about having fun on a micro budget - todays prices for 00 cars is nearly £20 here so making it certainly brings the hobby home and delivery what my needs are.. ALL my machines have payed for themselves in the first year - hence why more and more folks are turning to home building kits etc.. I really appreciate the My railways theory 😁 Nice one 👍 Take care and I wish you all the very best GARRY 🍻

Awesome video, garry you layout has come on loads now. Do you miss the shed, though?
@cheekytek
3 ай бұрын
Yes I really miss the shed space as it was my happy studio - Sadly I have an idiot neighbour that damaged the shed by breaking my fences and damaging the roof. Plus he makes so much noise it got impossible to do anything out there... I got fed up with the crazy smell, arguing and machines revving up, So moved it inside Hence the build today.. To be honest its easier for me to tinker and build indoors and I probably spend more time nowadays playing being on my own.. its doing the videos I am trying to work around more so.

Very nice. Are you willing to tell how you make the brickwork for 3d printing? or perhaps do you know a good tutorial to do it? I would appreciate it very much.
@cheekytek
3 ай бұрын
LOL - not really a secret just a knack - counting and re adjusting 9000 bricks was not fun lol its Brickwork realistically I scaled each brick to its correct size then added a backing wall plate 3/4 into all the bricks as a double up. not sure a video would help if I am honest Once I made a section I used that as a template 👍

Hi Garry, How translucent is the clear resin you use? Could it be used to 3D print lightpipes or glazing for locos, etc? TIA, Henry
@cheekytek
3 ай бұрын
Hi I have experimented on this same project and would say it is cloudy in appearance once printed- LEDs will shine through okay, but as glazed windows this may not be the best product as I have found due to the cloudiness finish. I do also find it yellows once UV cured, even with a short exposure. Hope this helps
