Nice review. I'm hoping your review will cover how well-suited this is for business video conferences. So far only an iPad (9 or 10) seems to have the video processing necessary for high resolution without stuttering or glitching. My favorite hidden feature of the new kickstand is converting this into a "micro" Xerox Display Writer - full screen word processor in portrait mode, very close to typing on a sheet of 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.

Thanks for the review! When they go on sale is when the value is undeniable. From personal experience never buy the 4 GB. It actually feels like a completely different device compared to the 8 GB. The last gen had crazy good battery life I'm going to wait to see if the new chip repeats that before I buy one.

5:27 alright what even is this? Very good processor? No lag? Bro that display looked like it was running on 10 fps, haven't seen laggy ui like this since 2016. Even budget android tablets less than 200 dollars don't have this many frame drops
@AndroidDigest
2 күн бұрын
This is a $350 device that comes WITH a keyboard. It's all about expectations. Yes, there are still a few frame drops, SOMETIMES when using touch gestures. But as far as actually using the device day to day, it's just a tad slower than the S9 FE on the android side (I benchmarked it). On the Chrome OS side with no emulation it's going to be faster than the s9 fe. And that's a tablet that goes on sale for $350 without a keyboard. So yeah, I'm pretty impressed even if there are frame drops on occasion with animations

I have the duet 3. I like it very much apart from the persistent issue it suffers with ghost touching. Other users seem to have this. The other thing I'd say is don't bother with 4GB of RAM - it's nowhere near enough.

@@AndroidDigestTo note, there is a larger 12" Alldocube Android tablet that just came out that includes a keyboard cover for around $250 on Amazon U.S. There's not much information about the tablet out there but it does have a desktop style mode and I believe comes with Android 14. However, like you noted, it's not going to get support and likely will not get any Android updates. I also found some impressions of it on some Japanese channels and the comments were indicating performance related problems including over heating.

Would you rather use the Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 or the OnePlus Pad 2 for day to day tasks?
@AndroidDigest
2 күн бұрын
That's a very tough one!!! The OnePlus pad 2 is definitely superior. The screen quality is probably equal. But it is definitely going to have more performance. It gets complicated because a lot of basic applications on OnePlus still won't work unless they are in portrait mode. And of course their keyboard case is in landscape mode. Yes the performance is much better on the OnePlus tablet. But if you don't make any alterations yourself to the software, some day to day tasks, like even pulling up the ups app to check on packages, it will turn sideways on you. Chrome OS is flexible and allows you to create both web apps and use Android apps and Linux at times. Even though the oneplus pad 2 is much smoother, faster, and for basic stuff Android can be better. But it's less versatile. You can change that issue on the one plus pad by sending a command to the tablet. There's a thread on Reddit about it and I bring it up in my review on the oneplus pad. For me, I prefer the software experience overall on the duet, even if you fix that little issue I mentioned with apps. The duet is so flexible and I like that. But if I had to buy one, I would probably lean towards the OnePlus pad, assuming they are both 8 gigabytes of ram and both the same price. But if you find the duet with 8 GB of RAM cheaper, I would personally lean that way. But mainly because of the software. It's definitely not going to be faster. The OnePlus pad 2 has the flagship processor from last year. So it's pretty incredible as far as power. It would crush the duet power wise. Again it's like comparing a tab S9 FE with the OnePlus pad 2. But personally I just like that flexibility. And I'd lean that way due to price mainly. But it's close. It also depends on the price of the 8 GB of RAM model which I haven't seen officially yet

@@AndroidDigest The Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 (8GB) is available at Lenovo's US store for $400 right now with pen, case, keyboard included. There are roughly $40 in coupons available as well. I currently own the OnePlus Pad Gen 1 but I have not enjoyed using it due to the useless keyboard case and the orientation issue you mentioned. I know they worked on the keyboard case a lot for Gen 2 but I'm not sure if it is as good as the Lenovo. I only have room for one tablet in my life and I think I am willing to give up unnecessary performance for more utility.

I'm sorry to say that, but I think at 5:32 you made a mistake 😅 In the video this tablet seems pretty laggy. I don't wanna sound like some kind of hater or something, but I think this tablet is NOT worth the price, not at all. Btw, thx for all the infos about it, I love this kind of video, but that device...is not a good device at all. For it's price, you could buy some Huawei stuff (including the pen and the keyboard) or Poco Pad or Xiaomi Pad Pro (if you need google service directly on your device with something not completely last generation, but still good product). Of these two I raccomend the Huawei Matepad 11.5S papermatte, that it's amazing (the CPU it's not a flagship tho...still, working pretty amazing with high demanding games and apps). Another good tablet for this range of price could be the Oppo Pad 2, and if you want some of the best hardware (software needs to be updated tho), you can go with something more fancy as the OnePlus Pad 2 or the Honor MagicPad 2 or the Xiaomi Pad 6S PRO. Sry for my bad english, but this is not my first language :(( P.S. I hope I helped some of you reading the comments!!!

I don't have the Duet 3 with me. BUT I'll tell you it benchmarked around 2,100 multicore. Slightly better then the A9+. Slightly worse then the S9 FE. But keep in mind it's running on the Android side when doing the test. I'm sure it takes a small hit when running Android vs the Chrome os side of things

I will never in my life buy another thing from Lenovo.. I had the P11 Plus, the display had some issues after 1,5 years. It was still under warranty, they changed the display. The issue: the replacement display was so bad: low brightness, faded colors and bad backlight bleed - all compared to the display that came from the factory with my unit. They refused to change it again... spoke to Lenovo, they couldn't care less... I even compared the replacement display to another identical tablet, the differences were so obvious! sent them the video proof, again.. zero fucks given! They are so so bad on the customer support part! I bought the Tab S9 because I had zero issues with Samsung warranty, in the past.

I have a bad experience with Lenovo too. Bought the previous Chromebook Duet 11 (the one with the light blue tone) and on one occassion it slipped off my hand and dropped a mere 15cm onto a soft wooden surface and the screen shattered. Called support and they have no idea how to replace it, or whether it's covered under warranty (I have had it for only 2 months) and quoted me the price of a new Chromebook and couldn't care less. Rubbish quality, rubbish support, not buying any Lenovo product again.

I have both the original Duet and the Duet 3. The Duet started getting too slow after about two years, to the point where there was noticeable input lag when typing. The Duet 3 started freezing up after an update and Android apps got slower/clunkier recently as well. I've seen the freezing issues reported by Duet 5 users and HP X11 users as well. It's a Google issue and they seemingly are never going to fix it. Long story short, after dealing with the Duet 3 freezing for months and it only getting worse, I switched to a Galaxy Tab S9 too. It's much faster, has much better speakers, the OLED screen is amazing and much smoother at 120hz, and DeX works pretty well as a Chrome OS replacement. All that said, I was still interested in this new Duet, but I'm concerned about problems happening again in two years and it's a bit of a downer that it's not Chromebook Plus certified.

10 years of os updates. Massive. As far as how it compares, benchmark wise, it's faster than the S9 FE on the Chrome os side. But slower on the android side. There's a bit of emulation I believe with Chrome os running Android apps. If you don't know the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is a tablet that frequently goes on sale for about $350. So performance wise the Duet is faster than the A9+. But it's close overall to the performance of the S9 FE. It feels fast, but there's still some occasional "frame drops" if you use tablet animations. Doesn't freeze up much or anything though.

I've got a couple closeups that show it but I get it's hard to tell with a video. I've seen worse. I haven't seen much better on an 11 inch device. It's doable. It's good enough, but still not quite as good as a 12 inch tablet would give. 12 inch tablets give pretty much a full keyboard experience. With any 11 inch tablet I always feel slightly crammed. This tablet was sort of in-between, slightly crammed but much better then a lot of other 11 inch tablets. So hard to say

Really 10 years of updates? What's the point if the device doesn't last more than 2 years? And not to mention that kind of poor, laggy performance, why would anyone buy this over any
@AndroidDigest
2 күн бұрын
Because it's not super laggy performance. I'm not sure what Android tablets you've used around $200, but some of them freeze up, some have even worse animations. Having some frame drops in an animation sometimes doesn't necessarily mean it's slow and buggy. Practically speaking, it's the S9 FE performance wise. It's slightly worse on the benchmarks on the android side, but it benchmarks higher on android than the A9+. So it benchmarks higher than a $220 Android tablet. It comes with a keyboard. 8GB of RAM in the base model. 10 years of os updates. Comes with a kickstand case. It fits in extremely well. A few frame drops doesn't mean it's slow. Practically speaking it feels pretty good most of the time. And again as an android budget tablet reviewer, I can safely say I'd rather have this performance vs the Lenovo m11 or the Galaxy a9+. It's a toss up between this and the s9 fe. But that device retails for like $450. But even on sale for $350 it's a toss up. Do you want that s pen and a simpler experience, or do you want the versatility and the updates of Chrome os? I like both
