Have you tried making a cloth out of the corn husk?

Hi, I would not advise making a cloth out of it as the fibres aren't woven together.

Hello, not sure if you'll see this- but is there a measurement to how much you add the baking soda? And how long it takes to blend? I did those exact same steps, except the corn wont turn into that smushy substance and had broken my blender..

Hi, i added quite a lot of baking soda. Sorry I do not have the exact measurements. I actually boiled it for quite some time at least an hour or until the husks feel soft to touch, different batches and size of husks actually takes a different amount of time.you might want to try boiling the softer husks or cut them into small pieces. Hope this helps!

You're going to have to experiment. Maybe an overnight simmer, too

Hi, you can actually use any types of dyes. I use natural dyes as my project was to create something sustainable and biodegradable.

Hi I am interested taking out fibre from corn husk and make a yarn out of it. Do you have any idea how to remove the rest of material from the husk either using enzymes or alkali?
@KristiContemplates
Жыл бұрын
You're going to have to treat it like other DIY plant fibre twine and yarn, I guess
@suckers64

I think it depends on the fibres that you would like to extract, for the thicker fibres u can use the method in the video but do not cut up the husk so that the fibres remain long.

Thats awesome. Whats the texture like? Does it have flexibility or is it somewhat brittle?
@suckers64
3 жыл бұрын
It is flexible to a certain extent, depending on the how fibrous the batch is

@@theproGAMAS that's nice! I guess there are many ways to tweak the pulp mixture to achieve different flexibility of the product. Good luck for your research :)

Why the baking soda??
@suckers64
2 жыл бұрын
The baking soda breaks down the thicker fibres and makes the material softer
