You can put your mason jars inside the canister you bought and dry seal it that way with the hose connected to the machine. You don’t need the special lids for the mason jars. I’ve done it that way for years with my FoodSaver.

I vacuum seal my canning jars inside my freeze dryer. It is a vacuum chamber after all. Remove the shelving. Put canning jars with lids and rings on. Use the manual test function to activate the pump and run until the display bottoms out. Slowly release vacuum using drain valve. Viola!

New subscriber here! I am getting a Harvest Right Freeze dryer this next week. I am following the collaboration put on by Angela at @The Inquisitive Farmwife and she recommended along with others to watch your channel. I am very interested in the Avid Armor vacuum chamber, so cool. I am going to watch a lot,of,your videos so I can learn about the dryer and the foods that can be dried. I appreciate your channel. We have a great community of amazing folks and we all have something to share and learn. Have a blessed day! Wendy🙏🏻🌎🇺🇸

Definitely prefer my food saver for accessory jar and container sealing. It auto detects when you have the right amount of vaccum. It also stays connected until you are ready to disconnect. If you only have this though no sense in buying a food saver too.

do you include an absorber when you use the cannisters? I do have a sealer that has that already and it works great! and they DO ahve a cap to use on the small mouth jars!!! I have 2

Amazon sells several different sets of lid sealers that do both regular and wide mouth jars. I use them with my old Food Saver for quick jobs or 1/2 gallon jars. If I have it up and running I’ll use the chamber in my USV 32 but quart jars are the largest that will fit. I set it for 20 seconds.

For small jars, if you can close the door, place the jar inside w/o the adaptor and vacuum. Same with any jar or container that will fit.

If I order the Avid Armor USV32 and the accessory hose adaptor, do I have to buy the Magic Vac Jar Hood? Or, will my Food Saver/other brand of jar hoods work? I cant see spending 30 bucks for 2 wide mouth jar hoods when I already have Food Saver ones in both regular and wide mouth sizes.

For items vacum sealed using the avid armour, is an oxygen absorber needed? I freeze dry foods in a mylar bag and haven't been inserting an oxygen absorber.

yes. air and oxygen are 2 different things. The sealer will pull out air with oxygen, but some hidden oxygen can remain.

The tube connection kind of sucks. It does work but why did they make it so it falls off? The answer is pretty much how the Euro series is designed and not setup for an accessory hose. Realistically thought when looking at other brands of vacuum sealers there are pros and cons to them all.

I wanted to buy tray lids, corners and dividers and it comes to 143.00 U.S. or 200.20 Canadian then when I went to pay just ordinary shipping is $50.00 U.S. Wow. I really want the items but the shipping is more than it cost me to ship a 40lb box of pollen patties for our bees from Florida to Canada which was 28.00 so yeah can't do it right now with money so tight. There must be a better shipping provider.

Our system calculates actual cost that the major providers charge. It's based on weight and box size. The expense is most likely import duties.

To be honest that looks like a pretty shoddy design for such an expensive piece of equipment. Having to hold the thing together, shut it off manually, and doing an interpretive dance to figure out what the buttons mean? Why not buy the cheaper FoodSaver and be done with it
