Not at all. My shoulders are pretty weak and even though I stretch and do stability drills, it still hurts if I ever try to catch the weight I clean and jerk. I drop it every rep, even for sets of 8+. I care about my health not the delicate sensibilities of strangers.

You have to drop the weight once it gets to significant to you personally, if not your risking injury and sport is lifting the weight up not putting a heavy weight down with control…

Well done with the PR. The good news is you got that more through brute strength so there’s a load more easy kilos in the tank. You’re actively lifting your feet up after contact which means you can’t fully commit to full extension. Try and stay on your feet as long as you can and you’ll receive the bar that little bit higher in the catch. Keep it up!!

I deadlift 445 at 155 at the most commercial gym ever I feel the pain I don’t even got a platform to use so I can use the turf but for prs it’s to squishy I lose all explosiveness.

Practice 'no foot' power cleans, youre lacking full extension during the 2nd pull which is resulting in zero power generation and all pulling of the arms. Weightlifters are not jumping but moreso they remove their feet for the purpose of getting under the bar faster when it is traveling upwards. Generally the 2nd pull is coached as a "jump" for the purpose of the correct pressing motion during the 2nd pull as you will automatically push through your whole foot, knees, and hips in an upward motion resulting in the bar maintaining its upward velocity. When youve reached full extension, you THEN use your arms to pull up and back, beginning the 3rd pull, keeping the bar close, and at this point, you can choose to lift/remove/slide your feet for the purpose of getting underneath the bar sooner. This generally results in your ending foot width being wider than your starting foot width.

Yea that’s true, I just started doing them recently for volleyball and was told it’s pretty much the jumping motion and your arms just go up and down with most of the power coming from that “jumping” motion

The way i like to think about extension is that it is not really a jump as much as it is an explosive driving of the bar up with your legs as you drive into the ground, in which the lifting of the foot or sliding of them happens after. The arms are only ropes that guide and are relaxed.

Not sure that his form is ‘excellent.’ He doesn’t achieve full extensions on any of his powercleans. Just looking at professional weight lifters, I’ve never seen them jump the way he does. I think if he learns to use his legs properly, he could make those lifts much easier.

You got the bar high enough on the first attempt of 185. That’s about the apex of the bar path especially as you add more weight, from there you just have to work on front squatting down while the bar reaches its apex and catching it in the bottom of your squat. Nice work👍🏼

You’re doing amazing man. You could easily do more weight if you went under the bar.You make perfect contact and the bar was going exactly where it needed to for the ones where you didn’t get it but you didn’t get underneath it. Start training To get very low depth with lower weight and get used to that type of stability and depth and don’t be scared to get under the heavier weight. Trust your body, you’re very strong!

For certain lifts i feel its uncalled for if they cant control it they dont need to lift it primarily deadlift, anyway If they dont like weights dropped, they can go to Planet Fatness. Its what that platform is made for.

Power clean a 185 is not easy but you did it! Although might need some improvement on the technique😅. If you got that right im sure you can do way more. Few tips, speed up when the bar goes above knee, shrug and really get that elbow pointing high to the sky, apart from that not bad.

I like to control the weight and usuall gently set it down. I try hold that standard for all my lifts, but fuck man, powerclean abd deadlift is just different. Those lifts in particularly, I'm sure others can include other lifts, are highly explosive so you're gonna be moving faster as opposed to other lifts. Don't stress about slamming it down, I think it's ok to feel a bit apologetic, but some impasses are, unfortunately, unavoidable. Keep at it man.

3 things. A, fuck them your in a gym not the library. B, your going too slow, your getting explosive with your hips perfectly but if you speed up the lift just a little and continue to pop your hips like you are you can get 195 for sure, and C your mental game was weak on the first two of 185. You were doubting yourself and the weight, clean is a big mental game. Be sure your going into the lift level headed and certain you'll get it, even if your not. The more you doubt yourself slower you'll go and less power you'll create Edit: good work though keep up the good work love to see people doing more clean lifts of any varuation

dropping the weight is the safest way to put the bar back down. Youre doing an olympic lift on an OLYMPIC PLATFORM meant to handle the weights being dropped. The lady behind you is uneducated about oly lifting so dont be embarrassed.
