Really appreciate the video. I used it in reverse -- watched how you put everything together (and checked Bentley a few times) in order to figure out how to take my 2007 apart. No one has done a video on that! It's pretty squirrelly in there. But I've got it in pieces now without breaking anything (that wasn't already broken). Phew! Now in my case, the broken part is on the "ratchet" -- there's a tiny little arm on the side that's broken off. I'm going to try to super glue it (or whatever I decide is best on ABS plastic crap) and see if I can get it to work. Otherwise, I'm going to have to head out to the pick-n-pull. Thanks again for the video.

Thanks for posting this video! It helped me to diagnose and fix the broken A/C / blower problem in a 2000 VW.

Nice fix. I love to make stuff work that shouldn't! I dig the passat work bench too. Way better than say a trucks tailgate.

Thank for the Video David. I have a 98 beetle TDI and I did the same thing you did with the climate control, but my [AC] & [Recerc] buttons did not come out right. The [AC] is always on. The OEM VW part number is: old="1 C0 820 045 C" new="1C0-820-045-E-01C". You must note the round contour on the two bottom push buttons. If the [AC] button is not round on the [A] side then the unit is from a Golf, Jetta or Passat. After all the part swapping I think it would have been easer to cut the console holes for the [AC] & [Recerc] square. All the other parts are interchangeable Dang you Volkswagen! I bought a used 2000 Jetta Climate control for $25 USD and thought it would be a direct swap. Now a year later I have to do it again.

Just curious why you didnt cut the headlights with 600 then 800 and spray 2k clearcoat instead of 1500/2000, compounding+buffing. Good job, i have a 2000 tdi beetle, appreciate all the detail!
