Vincent, two breeding females can NOT live together. The dominant female will attack the other. Each rabbit must have its own space. They can be side by side but not together. It's a survival of the fittest thing for breeding rights. Rabbits do not live together in the wild and don't need to. A friend of mine found that iut the hard way when she put hers together. Please don't do it. It's gruesome to see and can be deadly to them.

OK , here's the thing. You need to get that cage up off the ground and make sure theres air flow . so you really need to put a wire mesh bottom on it . Also get salt and mineral spools for him and a hay rack to hold his hay in . Rabbits can handle the cold but not heat and they need water in front of them at all times. I've raised rabbits for over 50 years . Right now I just have one for a pet. She has an open wire cage with a nest box. I make sure she has plenty of hay not only to eat but in her nest box along with wood shavings .Hay holds the heat better than straw for bedding .And here in northern Wisconsin she needs the hay bedding. I aklso have llike carpet squares down in her cage for her to walk and lay on the one end where she uses for her bathroom is open so it falls out of her cage onto the ground. And seeing as how her cage is outdoors not in a shed or barn I cover the top and sides with tarps . She is a very happy rabbit AND a spoiled one. She gets her pellets and carrots ,lettuce and clover in the summer She also gets a slice of apple every so often . Her name is Velvet and she loves baby spinach and kale too. You guys are doing great . keep up the good work. Take care be and stay safe , healthy and happy !

The new rabbit hutch is cute, but that is the only nice thing I can say about it. Not having some type of flooring on the bottom can allow predators access to Cookie and also allows Cookie to dig out from the hutch if it is put outside. Also, the door latches can be opened if a predator hits them enough it get them to turn. Apples are a tasty treat for rabbits, but apple seeds are poisonous to rabbits so only give Cookie cut portions without the seeds.

Hate to tell you but those kinds of cages are junk, will be surprised if it lasts a year. Not at all predator safe at all. Junk wood and made in china. Better off with the other cage. We use 14 gauge wire on all our cages. We have all wire cages (some are stackers: 3 cages on top of each other and others are bank cages: one row of cages side by side). I hope it works out for you but not going to hold my breath. If you want a pdf on building cages let me know, otherwise I will try and send the pdf file to you later tonight. The wire cages are much cheaper and will last much much longer than this junk cage will.

Pay attention to the wood on the new hutch for signs that he is chewing on the wood. The frame is very thin so if he starts chewing on it ( he needs to chew to keep his teeth worn down) he could get loose.

Also, after a while, the wooden latches will loosen and the doors will be easily opened by cookie. Need a poop screen on the bottom for droppings to fall through to hold down odor and mold.

It looks nice but it seems small to me for being the large size. I guess there’s no bottom on there.. I would build a stand for it kind a like your other one so it’s up off the ground with that screen on the bottom to let the poop fall through otherwise it’s going to get really nasty. Build a big poop tree underneath and put dirt in it and grow worms and that will be the best soil you can get. Just remember when you get females that they’re territorial so you have to always put them in with the mail so he should have a pretty big cage so they can do their thing with enough room around. That might be better for the girls. Lol

I was planning to raise some indigenous California Quail to turn loose to repopulate the area. --- I think I would raise it up at least 3 foot off the ground so I didn't have to get on my knees every time I fed them or cleaned the hutch. I can get down there pretty easy, but at my age it's getting more difficult to get back up :>

Find a good home for that gift it is a no but thank you for letting you try it out. Dutch gifted you a good starter. You need a roomy cage for your buck because you take your lady to the male when you breed them. No doe shares her cage with any other male or female only her and her babies when she has them. I don't get the droppings drawer not having a wire mesh bottom. Also there should be a bottom wire mesh so the droppings can fall out. I really think this cage was actually designed to set on the grass so the rabbit could eat grass. However if you are going to use it as a permanent enclosure I think it should be up off the ground with a wire mesh bottom so the droppings could fall out. I like the food & water situation in your original pin. Just My opinion. I really like watching. 😃

Yes the sliding tray can catch the poop after the poop falls that 1/2 inch or so. As well as the second floor having rabbit wire. Sorry if I didn't make myself plain.
