The 2025 Renault Captur city SUV has undergone a makeover in anticipation of its release in Australian showrooms between January and March 2019, some five years after its first launch. Renault's smallest SUV has been introduced in Australia, with enhanced safety features, improved interior technologies, new wheel designs, color options, and a redesigned front fascia. Anticipated influx of individuals from Australia is projected to commence during the initial quarter of 2025. Although details about the upcoming local Captur model range are still being finalized, the current model offers four distinct varieties, each equipped with a non-hybrid 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Gilles Vidal, who became Renault's chief designer in 2020 after working at Peugeot for ten years, has given the Captur a redesign that aligns it with Renault's latest models, such as the Scenic and Megane electric cars. At the same time, Vidal has incorporated subtle headlight design elements that pay tribute to Peugeot. The update encompasses the introduction of transparent tail-light enclosures, a modified rear bumper, and the inclusion of 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, there is a possibility of a Esprit Alpine version featuring a distinct front bumper, black accents, and exclusive 19-inch wheels. The Captur now features an enhanced 10.4-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen, replacing the previous 9.3-inch display. This touchscreen includes integrated Google applications like Maps and Renault's latest OpenR Link software, which is based on the Android operating system. This software is compatible with both wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Captur is offered with various engine choices, which vary based on the specific market. In the Australian market, the 1.3-liter turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine is enhanced by an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which provides a power output of 113kW and a torque of 270Nm. In international markets, the vehicle is available with a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, a 1.0-liter petrol and LPG dual-fuel engine, as well as mild hybrid variants. The power outputs for these engines are 66kW/160Nm, 103kW/260Nm, and 118kW/270Nm, respectively. Out of all the options, the hybrid is the most fascinating choice due to its impressive 107kW power output. This is achieved with a combination of a 69kW 1.6-liter gasoline engine, a 36kW electric motor, an 18kW "high-voltage starter generator" electric motor, and a 1.2kWh battery.
