New Renault SCENIC 2020 Review Interior Exterior.
After the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2018, Renault is introducing the new generation of the 1.3 TCe turbo petrol engine in the Scénic and Grand Scénic. The new engines offer higher performance, more torque at low engine speeds, lower CO2 emissions (-8%) and extremely moderate consumption. The higher efficiency results in an extremely elastic, agile running behavior. With the new engine, the Renault Scénic is also available for the first time with a petrol engine and automated 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The Swiss launch for the Scénic and Grand Scénic models (versions with 140 PS and 160 PS) is now taking place, followed by the new Captur (version 150 PS).
After four years of development, Renault is introducing the 1.3 TCe, a state-of-the-art, completely new turbo petrol engine. The latest generation of engines combines the know-how and development potential of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance and Daimler AG at the very highest level.
The result shows a new development stage of the turbo petrol engine with numerous technical details and refinements, which result in a higher degree of efficiency and accordingly better efficiency.
The new generation of TCe engines offers more power, higher torque at low speeds and over a wider speed range, lower CO2 emissions and extremely moderate consumption. This has a direct impact on driving comfort and agility.
The new generation of engines will be introduced in advance in the Renault Scénic and Grand Scénic, each with 140 HP and 160 HP. In conjunction with the new 1.3 TCe, the Scénic and Grand Scénic are the first to offer a combination of a petrol engine and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The 1.3-liter unit combines turbocharging and direct petrol injection with four-valve technology, overhead camshafts and variable adjustment of the timing (intake and exhaust valves). These measures result in an increase in torque and thus more torque at low speeds and a linear torque curve up to high speeds.
Instead of hydraulic tappets, electrically controlled rocker arms are used. This reduces friction, which both improves the efficiency of the drive and reduces wear on the material.
Direct injection and optimized combustion: The engineers paid particular attention to the combustion process. The injection pressure was increased from 200 bar to 250 bar. The use of 6-hole injection nozzles ensures a finer distribution in the combustion chamber. The central placement of the injection nozzles and the new shape of the combustion chamber made it possible to optimize turbulence and combustion.
Aluminum engine block without additional cylinder liners : In contrast to conventional designs that work with aluminum engine blocks with cylinder liners, these are not required for the new 1.3 TCe. A special process with an iron-carbon coating (Bore Spray Coating), which is successfully used within the alliance in the Nissan GT-R, offers a high-strength, resistant surface.
This results in a lower internal friction of the engine and a reduction in the engine weight. This measure alone results in a reduction in consumption and emissions of around 1%.
20 years after the launch of the Renault Scenic, the compact van was redefined. The New Scenic is a van with a modern design and a strong personality. Its features are the new proportions with the 20-inch wheels and the two-tone body paint. This generation also fulfills all expectations of a family car, because with its versatility and its numerous functions and help systems such as the Multi-Sense, the R-Link 2 and the colored head-up display, the New Scenic not only offers a unique driving experience but also that greatest possible safety on the road.
The excellent performance of the New Scenic in the Euro NCAP crash test confirms the high level of safety of the modular CMF C / D kit (Common Module Family - C / D segment), which serves as the technology basis for the model. The main characteristic of this platform is the use of high-strength steels with a load capacity of 120 kilograms per square millimeter for safety-relevant body zones such as longitudinal and cross members as well as the roof pillars. This means that they can withstand high forces and create a stable protective space for the driver and passengers. They also ensure excellent torsional rigidity.
Renault combines the rigid passenger compartment with a programmable, deformable body structure at the front and rear. These areas serve as a "crumple zone" in an accident and absorb a high degree of impact energy. There are also a variety of efficient restraint systems. In the event of a frontal impact, two double-chamber adaptive airbags protect the driver and front passenger. Depending on the severity of the crash, they unfold fully or only partially.
