The new 52 kWh battery that equips the New ZOE extends its range to 395 kilometers in the WLTP* cycle, an increase of +25%, without changing the size of the battery. By adopting rapid DC charging up to 50 kW, the New ZOE offers the most extensive versatility for charging stations available in Europe. The New ZOE recovers up to 150 kilometres of range in 30 minutes.
With the introduction of the R135, a 100 kW engine (equivalent to 135 hp), the New ZOE offers even more acceleration control and responsiveness. Driving pleasure and comfort are enhanced, especially on the motorway, with acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h 2.2 seconds faster than the previous generation.
The New ZOE also offers a new driving mode that simplifies city traffic. Called “B mode”, it provides intensified decelerations allowing a reduced use of the brake pedal.
Finally, the electrical architecture has been entirely redesigned to accommodate several advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
A new offer in this segment, the New ZOE benefits from a 10-inch driver’s display and a central touch screen from 7 to 9.3-inch from the entry level. This range of equipment is complemented by the electronic “e-shifter” gear lever, an automatic parking brake with Auto-Hold function and LED lighting that increases visibility by 75%.
In terms of connected services, the New ZOE is equipped with Renault EASY CONNECT, which is available in the vehicle with the Renault EASY LINK multimedia system and on smartphones via the MYRenault application, to offer a range of applications and services designed to support drivers throughout their journeys.
The new generation of Renault Zoe will be launched at the end of 2019 with up to 135 hp and a range of up to 390 km. In terms of design, it is even closer to the new Clio.
Since its market launch in early 2013, the Renault Z oedeveloped into one of the most popular electric cars in the world. In Europe, he clearly leads the e-sales charts. In Germany, around 6,400 new models were registered last year. This makes the five-door the best-selling electric car in this country too. One reason for this is likely to be the continuous further development of the small electric vehicle. Most recently, Renault launched a new variant with more power (80 kW) and a battery capacity of 41 kWh at the beginning of 2018. The manufacturer specifies a range of up to 316 kilometers - according to the new, realistic WLTP cycle. The next generation of the small electric car will now roll onto the market at the end of 2019 with a further significantly increased range and improved charging technology.
The new generation of the Zoe looks more like a facelift, because the layout of the model remains almost identical. When designing the Zoe successor, Renault has not only based itself on the latest generation of the Clio. Overall, the Stromer looks less noticeable. The LED headlights are slightly different in shape. One of the few differences to the Clio can be seen here, as the small clip below the headlight has been omitted. The front grille has become larger and is peppered with chrome applications. The fog lights are positioned next to the grill.
The large Renault diamond in the front is not just for design reasons: there are two sockets behind it. For charging, the driver no longer only has the home wallbox with seven kW, the 11 or 22 kW charging stations of the cities at hand. The new Zoe can now be charged at fast charging stations with up to 50 kW. At the rear, the new lights and dynamic indicators stand out. A large fingerprint can be seen on the handle for the rear door, which is hidden in the frame. The wheels can be ordered up to 17 inches in size. There are three new colors to choose from for the outer skin, a total of nine.
In the interior, the relationship to the Clio can be seen even more clearly. With a few exceptions, such as the headlining in the circuit board design, Renault has used a lot from the Clio shelf. Only the outer ventilation grilles are different: in the Zoe they are round. The ten-inch information screen behind the steering wheel, the seven or 9.3-inch, Apple Car Play and Android Auto-capable Easy-Link infotainment touchscreen in the center console have remained the same. In addition to driving mode D, the Zoe driver now has mode B, which offers greater recuperation. An electric handbrake including auto-hold function and a total of four USB ports, two of them in the rear, are also standard equipment. There is also a tray for inductive smartphone charging in the center console.
