1/10th is where its at, 1/8th max and higher scales like 1/16th. Most rc hobbyists I know selling their xmaxx and large scale, too much space and problems that go along with it, and the non gimmicky experience of rc can effectively be had with 1/10th scale (except going over some terrain at higher speed, but the large scales break so easily on said terrain anyway) and higher at fraction of the cost

This thing looks to be a game changer. I love the comparison to the grom. It’s the same price (at least for preorder) but when you factor in most everyone seems to feel the urge to upgrade the groms and put minimum $50 to make it brushless or upgrade diffs etc it seems hard to ignore the affordable price of this Rlaarlo. It’s a game changer not only for the competition it’s gonna give Arrma in regards to cheap smaller scale rc’s but also for how it puts heat under traxxas, team associated, losi, redcat, Mjx , haiboxing, deerc, jetwood, basically Rlaarlo is dropping a nuke on any company that has a 1/14 scale and under basher. IMO. I’ve only been in the hobby for just under 3 years so I have no loyalty or nostalgia to any particular company. If Rlaarlo keeps releasing affordable bangers (sct next please) it’s only a matter of time before that loyalty dithers. Sorry for writing a book this seems like a pivotal point in the hobby and quite frankly I’m excited. Awesome video as always 👍✌🏼

Steel spur gear on this scale is not something you see everyday. Usually steel gears you see in 1/8 rc cars and bigger. From 1/10 and smaller rc cars the steel spur gear is rare. I am I impressed for the steel spur gear. I don't like plastic spur gears at all because they can't handle the 4s brushless systems nether 3s systems with full throttles and brakes. So I still haven't got the kids their rc car yet because new better options keep coming. With this being able to limit throttle all the way to 25% it sounds like I could run it with 2s or 3s batteries and be able to adjust it to speeds of 2s or less fairly easily so we can hopefully use them everyday after school without constant repairs lol
@DoRC

It's tough to know what the long-term durability of this platform is going to be since it hasn't been out very long. If you want a known quantity the Grom is a better option. Parts will also be easier to come by which it sounds like might be important for your use case.

I think this truck is really an attractive offer at this size and point. But for me personally, fun during maintenance became just as important as the driving experience. And I really hate hate hate small screws. F### them😂 I also stripped a screw in another Rlaarlo vehicle while being a newbie and let me tell you, this was a really stressfull experience I dont want to repeat again. Additionally, the Arrma Grom argument does not hold any water since I started thinking differently. I think it is better to own fewer cars and give them every upgrade that makes sense. Having three mediocre cars is much worse than owning a really good one. And when you upgrade the Granite Grom, the quality gap between these vehicles is really close. Or to put it bluntly: Im willing to pay a high price for a good experience while keeping only a "reasonably" sized fleet. That being said, I dont know what to pick anymore😂
@DoRC
29 күн бұрын

I’m thinking of this, Typhon grom, or LC racing buggy. Any thoughts? I have the opportunity to purchase a brand new built grom with a castle system and other expensive upgrades for $300 (has $600+ in it) but I’m just a lowly skatepark basher…. If you have any suggestions would love to hear them. My only musts really are hex screws, and not too much bouncing on landings (as long as I can tune it/buy parts to fix it).

I'm not sure of buggy would be best for skatepark bashing. I also don't really bash in skate park so I can't speak to the durability of cars under that sort of stress. The groms are generally pretty tough and getting one that's already upgraded is definitely a great way to save money

The reason Rlaarlo is doing this, cos 1/10 MT is way overcrowded. MT10/Quantum2/Granite/BigRock/Stampede/etc. And 14 scale is almost nonexistent. Reflex 14MT and that's about it. Grom is way smaller at 18 scale, so not a lot of competition there.
@DoRC

Agreed. This is definitely a less crowded niche.
@richiefrank15productions

This is so cheap in price compared to what you spend on a grom,then make it brushless and then to get to an all steel drivetrain and still no aluminum chassis, your looking at around 400 to 450 so if your worried about parts availability then for 300 slackers buy 2 of these and use 1 as a parts truck and still be in less by about a hundred. Thanks for your feedback! 😊 With the factory standard 15T pinion, the maximum speed is around 70 km/h (approximately 45mph). However, if you're looking for more speed, you can use the included 21T pinion, which can boost the maximum speed up to 100 km/h (about 60mph). We hope this helps you reach the performance you're looking for. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out!

@@DoRCthat is unfortunate. Brownie points to the grom on that end, not many minis coming with sealed bearings out of the box- only grom and LC IIRC. I think folks are missing the point of the Grom. This doesn't come close to a car I can charge in my Toyota on the way to a park and put away without storing the battery. If we wanted a high performance mini, TA and Losi make some. Mojave Grom with the Furitek drop in is worth the extra price, in my opinion. This truck has some nice scale details, but doesn't bring anything special to offset it's cheap steel and plastics.
