So many people. It’s extraordinary that so many are drawn to pools of warm water next to a power station in a barren landscape. It’s impressive that it has been kept functioning with such enormous logistical and safety challenges to deal with

If this was the UK , they would still be discussing about having a meeting to discuss the building of the berms. The roads would never be rebuilt.

Great job! Thank you very much! Lava must have crossed that road numerous times and now i know why they go to so much trouble inorder to keep the Blue Lagoon in operation. Prices will likely rise due to the cost of all that maintenance. I was told it is pretty costly now for what you receive and not really worth the cost. Better to go to one of the other hot springs in Iceland.

Yes, I've heard how pricey it is over there. That's too bad, but I guess it's a well known tourist attraction. I didn't realize that's a road they're working on- nor did I know how hard it is for buses to get to the Lagoon with narrow roads. What I fear, is the next eruption. Is it just going to go right over all they've done.. again? :(

the sad truth is the uplift is increasing faster since the eruption has stopped, the eruption may come at the end of July or first of August. They are not building a road, but raising the berm another 20 meters in height, and have even removed the roads digging big lava retention pond for the next time the berm is breached.
