I have had mine now for three weeks, and I don't think I've ever connected with a piece of machinery like I have with this keyboard, and I've been playing for 30+ years. There is magic in this keyboard, from all the feels from the 80's vibe, to the new amazing sounds from the Juno X model sounds and features. The sounds are just amazing, both the VA sounds and the digital ones. I'm in love, yes, and this will be in my studio until I am no longer in my studio! Thanks for sharing your Juno X beginnings!

@@GlennMainMusic Then you have the people on the forms saying Oh it does not sound exactly like the old Junos with its Zencore technology. I agree there might be a 5 percent difference where Zencore is slightly smoother sounding over the original which in my opinion sounds better. Fans who love the old sounds can get the exact same tone with Rolands ACB technology that the System 8 provides. It has a slightly sharper sound like the original. However in a mix on a song with reverb and EQ, no one could hear a difference nor would they care. They just want a great sounding song. But Zencore technology has so many advantages over the System 8 with after touch and more polyphony

I remember that synth when it came out around 1982/83 if I'm right 🤔 but still couldn't afford it those days, i was only 17years old with few money 😭 but i think for a few couple of hundred euros more i prefer to buy its bigger brother, the Jupiter X. My opinion of course 😉
@GlennMainMusic

I’ve had the Jupiter XM , and it was a great synth. The only reason I sold it and bought the Juno X was because of the layout on the front. It “speaks” more to me because I am used to the 106 😃😃 But they are very much the same inside - so great choice no matter who you choose:)

Great choice, Sir. The Juno-X is a very desirable instrument, indeed. I wonder if the sound parameter sliders transmit/receive SysEx or CC messages. Juno-106 transmitted/received SysEx, so the sound parameter slider movements could be automated.

Thanks for the demo, Glenn! You mentioned that you like the keybed on the new Juno X. I wonder how it compares to some other keybeds mechanically, especially - other Rolands. Have you tried the Jupiter X or Fantom and could you compare the keybeds with the Juno X? (I'm sure they would not have fitted it with some inferior keybed, as the instrument looks solid. Just checking... :>) Thanks!
@GlennMainMusic

I only had the Jupiter XM with the small keys, and I sold it now that I’ve got my Juno x , but I think the Keynes are something in between a “synth” and semi weight Keybed. It’s very responsive and soft at the same time.. if you know what I mean 😃😃

@@GlennMainMusic The best comedy is funny, while also true. There is always a line with humans and technology where the technology takes over, and it's no longer human. That line is different for everybody. This synth doesn't appeal to me, personally. But there are plenty of people who it will appeal to, and that's fine. For my ears it sounds incredibly generic, and very digital. I have used similar types of instruments, and know that it's always possible to get interesting results once you break out of the known paradigms and presets, so I have no doubt that it's possible. It's just not the reason why I own a restored original Juno 106 for, which is character, simplicity, immediacy, and tone. In my opinion, none of these things are present in this "modern take", and I suspect that a great deal of very similar sounding boring generic music will be made with it. All you need to do is turn it on and press a few buttons and you have a fully realized song, after all.
@GlennMainMusic

@@SR-ih1be - I respect your opinion, and of course if you just use preset sounds and patterns, all will sound the same I guess, thats why I make my own. The purpose with my tutorials are just to show some of the possibillities with this synth. I also have my Juno 106 fixed with brand new sound chips (6 of them) And of course nothing beats the original... but this is the "modern" version of a synth we all love, so to me it is a really nice recreation of a classic synth. But we have all different needs and meanings, and that is a good thing :-) I will continue to try to figure out more of this synth anyway, and maybe I can make it sound even more realistic fue the sounds of the 106.. And one other thing.. to program the sequencer it takes a lot more than jut puching a couple of buttons by the way :-)

This is the second time I’ve seen SR cry about this. Who cares. Don’t buy it. I too love analog for obvious reasons, however I have a million different uses for this and it will certainly open a wide range of possibilities more so than the far “superior” Juno 60 or 106. For you, I’d say the issue is a user error ;)

@@nicholashamersly6958 If people stating their educated opinion is "crying", grow a pair. Too many shills on the internet trying to support the unreasonable demands of capitalism at the expense of logic and reason. I'm far from being an outlier in my orientation. If you have a million different uses for this, and don't care about how it actually sounds compared to the real thing, who cares? Buy it.
