on the c3 pro: the vent-out air goes out back of your neck through the collar-foam material which is porous. FYI.

This is a helpful comparison. We've been shopping for a new helmet for my wife. Her current helmet is an HJC (non modular). She wants a modular helmet and she tried a C3 Pro last weekend.. tho they didn't have her size. We were going to order one.. till we discovered there was also a C5. We may order the C5 now...

yeah I would say the C5 is a definite improvement over the C3P. Both are great helmets.

@@VoyagingVoyager Thx. We were also considering the HJC i91 modular.. but we're now leaning to the Schuberth. She tried the Shoei Neotec also, but she didn't like the way it felt/fit. She has a small head (XS) so we usually have to try larger helmets in-store.. and then order the proper size.

I just tried on a few Schuberth helmets yesterday at a local shop. I liked everything about the fit and am now watching KZitem videos such as yours. I am between the C3 Pro and C5 and since I live in Scottsdale Arizona where temps hit over 110 for weeks on end I am going to purchase the C5. Currently looking at the Chrome Burner website and appreciate the very informative review and upside of buying from a European retailer. Thank you!

Glad my video helped someone! The C5 is the best warm weather modular I have tested in terms of ventilation. When it gets super hot I just flip it up and enjoy a blast of fresh air. You will love the C5.

Yeah, I ordered before from Champion Helmets and saved over $200 on my Shoei Neotec II. Looking to get this one and the savings for the C5 plus the SC2 comm unit is closer to $500! Insane how they are priced here. Thanks for the review, I have seen all of them now. 😀

The liner under the micro metric does not Velcro on my C5. Overall, I like it a lot. I am looking forward to the coming availability the pads to adjust fit as my head is a bit longer oval than Schuberth are designed for. I have a slight gap between my temples and the helmet padding, but the crown of my head fits very nicely in the helmet. I also want to find a dark visor for my girlfriend or a darker internal sun visor. She wears sunglasses all of the time and doesn’t have to see where we are going as the sun goes down.

The C3 Pro in plain white is much cooler in the summer than the ones which have been painted. I have had two, one painted and one white, the white one is a lot cooler. The venting for the C3 Pro is out of the bottom at the back - you'll see a sort of mesh type fabric on the neck roll at the back. It's not as effective as a dedicated vent on the rear of the helmet. Have you got the interior flaps closed on the C3 Pro? These are designed to limit the airflow for winter use... The chin vent sends air over the inside of the visor which helps to keep it clear in humid conditions. It also helps to extract the buildup of CO2, which occurs at slow speed in all full-face/modular helmets, when the chin curtain is installed (probably more important). Note: I also have a Shoei NEOTEC II and, for me, the C3 Pro is a better helmet than the NEOTEC II. Both helmets are very comfortable to wear. Both have minor "niggles" but the Schuberth C3 Pro is much quieter and the visors are easier to operate, remove, clean and replace. I've been debating whether to get the C5 or another C3 Pro. Still undecided but, after your review, leaning towards the C5. Have you done a long term review?

I have the same problem with that chin vent on my C3Pro....I had to angle my screen so my head isn't in the "bubble". Ventilation is fine now.

I’ll trade less airflow for more quiet…..just a personal preference. I ride long distances and protecting my ears from the wind noise is priority 1. Can’t go wrong with a Schuberth, such great quality lids.

It really makes me wonder what it was about the DOT standard that caused them to have to change the shell because they are not the same as the European/Canadian model.
@VoyagingVoyager
2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. After much research I trust the ECE 22.06 rating more than DOT. The best example is how you can find brain buckets and cheap Amazon Chinese junk helmets with DOT approvals, not so with ECE ratings. Helmet manufacturers should never be allowed to self certify, DOT allows that, ECE does not.
@alanhassall
2 жыл бұрын
@@VoyagingVoyager I remember when Revzilla made their video and how mad everyone was that they did not say that the C5 was ECE rated because we had been seeing reviews across Europe about it being one of the first to meet the new certification. I was surprised that most helmets vary in construction in order to meet regional/national requirements. DOT must require something that ECE does not or the helmets would carry both. I heard somewhere that the shell had to be thicker to pass a penetration test, but don’t know if the source knew what they were talking about. I’m not a fan of DOT either, but it is what we have in the US. When it comes to helmets, I buy fairly high end because I like the removable pads and attention to detail. I found a dealer who had his C5’s marked at $699, and since he hadn’t sold any, he gave me 20% off. I didn’t expect that, but appreciated it. Also, my head does not fit in a lot of the lower cost helmets. My head is also pretty important to me. I’m not terribly handsome and don’t think I could get past facial or brain damage. There is so much liability in helmet manufacturing that I would be surprised if reputable manufacturers would cheat on the tests. I do try to believe the best in people though.

You mention that the sizing between the two is similar. From what I've read and experienced, the C5 runs about 1 size larger than the C3 Pro. I wear a large in C3P, but I tried on a large in the C5 and it was too large. The medium fit me well in the C5. Anybody else?

This is a tough one because head sizes vary greatly. I have large in both. I can only speak for myself here but I find that the C3 is definitely a bit more snug. However, the C5 is also appropriately snug. I find that large fits me fine in the C3 and C5.

When I record voice with my videos I use my C3pro. Of course you could mount the cam on the side, but yeah, the sliding vent is a problem depending on where you want your cam mounted.
