Imagine if this had come out back in the day! It'd have absolutely blown us away that the devs could squeeze out so much performance from the little 'ol Mega Drive. I actually can't wait to get to have a play with this one and I get the feeling that the soundtrack is going to demand that it's played LOUD.

Looks great, definite Metroid-Vania vibes. The mech sections feels like they took a mech from Target Earth/Assault Suit Leynos and mixed it with the Sophia tank/vehicle from Blaster Master. It looked for a second during the AI boss fight, that your character could stand on one of the hands during the side punch attacks 🤔

It looks pretty good, just something about it makes me a bit wary of how much I might enjoy it. Like the character's sprite size, and even with all the nice animations, some of the graphics look kinda plain, it's hard to describe. But, you saying how good it feels to control is promising. Perhaps it'll be like Alien Soldier when I thought I'd hate that game cuz of the huge sprites/boss rush gameplay, but it's one of my favorite Sega exclusives now. I will be trying this out for sure

Props to some of the cool effects the devs have achieved, not a great fan of the overall visuals though, the platforming bits look a bit like a gameboy advance game rather than a 16 bit megadrive game.

Being overly nice doesn't always help, and here's a perfect example. No KZitemr had anything negative to say about 'The Cursed Knight,' yet it’s interesting that while testing 'The Cursed Legacy,' the consensus is clear-it's much better than its predecessor, with significant improvements. I recognize Broke Studios' talent, but I also think there are still many problematic game design choices. For instance, the large sprites reduce visibility; when you were descending the elevator, visibility was the main challenge, not the enemies. I speak French and sometimes I pick up on stories that suggest a lack of constructive feedback. Everyone seems impressed that a team can develop a Megadrive game, which is certainly noteworthy, but there are still numerous issues. We often criticize the cold, financial mindset in teams, but perhaps a business-oriented perspective is exactly what Broke Studios needs to periodically reality-check their dreams and ideas.
@gregovitch

Broke Studio didn't developed the game, GGS Studio did. It's a gang of 5 friends with jobs on the side. It's a game made by fans... there's flaws, but it's their second game, and they're not professional. That's a pretty good result if you ask me.

That cover shooting's pretty cool. Don't think I've seen that before in a 16-bit game. You mentioned X switches power ups. So how do you switch power ups on the 3-button controller? Isn't the boss guy with all the dots just an image on a background layer with the tiles streamed in/out on the fly to make it look like it's animating? Would be pretty simple really once you have bigger cartridges available today to store a bunch of large images for the animation frames--well, only for anyone who already has the skill to make games on these old consoles mind you. The hands look to be two sprites with a few pre-loaded frames in VRAM. And I can see the undulating floor is column scrolling there. Edit; Ah, yeah, with the way the head lifts up like a curtain after shooting him for a bit, it definitely looks like it's on a background layer. And vertical scrolling of the layer plus updating different lines using some raster tricks gives it that little bit of vertical squash and stretch as it raises too. So, overall, not a huge fan of the visuals aesthetically personally--can't complain too much for an indie/homebrew game though--and the rest looks pretty solid. Now I'd like to see a SNES version, as there ain't nothing there that couldn't be done on SNES too. And I think they could even spruce things up a little and maybe add more colours and a few more visual effects to make it shine there.

GGS isn't going to port any of their games to the outdated snes. They didn't port the cursed knight before this sequel came out, so that means none of their games are coming to the snes ever, this is a genesis only development team, no ports to any other system unlike bitmap. The snes is outdated by modern standards, and you're delusional for thinking otherwise 🤪
