I just installed these on my 67, I took the brace out of the factory seat supports and cut the ends off and welded inside of these new pans for added strength. Coated everything in zinc Weld-Thru primer before welding in. They definitely require a lot of fitment, you'll need a hammer and will likely have a sore arm after lol

I loved the "you're probably not going to be here anymore" comment during the explanation of painting the parts to prevent rust and how long they would take to be damaged by rust.

If there any updated info on what carpet to use? I have a 67 mustang coupe. The guys in the video say to use a 69 carpet, but I just called NPD and the sales guy said to use a 67 cougar carpet in my 67 mustang... Their website says to "see catalog" for details, but theres no part numbers listed anywhere...

Thanks Jeff for another great video. I just installed these seat platforms and full floor pans in my 1966. I ran into a small snag with ordering the '69 carpet set. I learned that Ford changed their carpet material to save a few bucks and also the colors are different than they were in 1966..at least ford blue a/k/a medium blue. It's not a huge deal unless you have a pony interior like I do and want to have the matching carpets on the lower portion of the kick panels. I'm working with NPD to quote me 69 carpet moulds made with the same 1966 carpet material and correct color instead.. I'm also opting for the massback rubber backing this time around..btw I'm also thinking of opting for the '70 Mach 1 carpets because it also has the built in vinyl pieces under each passengers feet, not just on the drivers feet section. I need to verify but it looks like its the looped nylon which appears to be the same material as it was in 66. I tried calling ACC directly but their pricing direct is higher than through one of their vendors. go figure. I'm hoping the quote won't be higher than normal carpet pricing. It's high as it to me because I paid $79.00 for this carpet 25 yrs ago.

I just got off the phone with Jeff Fein from NPD in Detroit. He has been working with ACC to make the first '69 Cougar carpets. They had already sent ACC the short seat pans to custom make this carpet mounding and the new carpet should be ready any day now..I might even get the very first one! He also said the 69 or 70 fits better than the 66 carpets but it's still not perfect. He thinks the kit comes with the rocker panel carpets. I'm also looking to order the matching mats with mass backing too. I'm very excited and pleased with NPDs customer service. CJ pony gets a big 👎. If you watch this video and need carpet only call NPD or you'll just be wasting your time.

@@EliminatorPerformance I’d speak to NPD again specifying the carpet you want or call ACC directly for a custom order. Just don’t overthink this. Also LLyods makes the best floor mats.

You never know what might happen. We're based in South Carolina, so it is quite a hall for us to go to Cali. As for giveaways, we have tried doing a few of them, but since the videos stay up we have issues with people today trying to win prizes we gave away 9 years ago. LOL.

These are not just for tall people! also used for aftermarket seats are taller, also used to lower the center of gravity of the driver and passenger, it all adds up to gain performance and handling

The seat extenders have thickness, that's going to take back the drop a little. Seems like maybe you could move the seat boxes back a little, I know the holes won't line up a little, but it looks like the extenders like I said raise the seat the thickness of those extenders.
@crustycurmudgeon1

But since the seat pan is sloped, extending the seat back also moves it down a bit. Maybe someone can figure out what the net effect is.

I'm only 6 foot tall. But I feel like I'm setting on the floor when I'm in my 67 mustang. Is there a way to raise the factory seat so I'm setting a little higher? I thought of a 1x1 square metal tubing between the track and the floor......??? Any suggestions?
@EliminatorPerformance

If you get those track extenders they raise you another 1" basically putting you back to normal with these lower supports, but with factory supports theyd raise you.

Question for OP or anybody: My 1965 mustang driver's seat does NOT slide forward or backward and seems fixed in place. Should it not be adjustable for moving forward or back a little? When I have time I will get in it with a flashlight and look under the driver's seat to see how it is mounted but so far CANNOT move it forward or back.
@AutoRestoMod

It is probably "rust locked". I'd remove the seat and use a rust buster lubricant and see if they free up with some light "love taps". Failing that they are available from NPD.
@captsaison9343

@@AutoRestoMod That is exactly what I will do then. I know the seats are SUPPOSED to move back and forth to let shorter and taller drivers get in and out and reach the pedals. Don't have a Mr. American physique at my age but also don't have huge belly either. I have some spray lubs like Ballistol and I have a rubber magic that can work magic. Ha. Ha. Ha. Have been watching all the youtube posts I can concerning old mustangs.

I installed the very same seat pans from NPD (67 cougar) and mine fit like crap, mine were too wide, I had to cut off 1/8 to 1/4" off the width to fit in between the rocker and tunnel to lay flush to floor pan, I contact NPD and they havent heard this issue from any one else? I see your pans fit nicely, I think I got a bad batch from whomever makes these? I did this on a 65 fastback.

+soupercooper We know that NPD had these test fit in a '68 Cougar and went back and forth to get a good fit. We had no real problems either aside from typical fit-n-fiddle. Couold you send us some pics of the pan install so we can maybe see what is causing the issue? Send them to: jford@autorestomod.com

No they only drop the seat. You would need to move them back a bit to pick up more leg room. But then the bolt holes won't line up.

Will this 1 inch drop work with a Bench Seat?
@AutoRestoMod
8 жыл бұрын
+Nicholas Werba Honestly we're not sure. We'd recommend measuring the seat to tunnel clearance from the carpet to the bottom edge of the seat, then subtract 1-inch from it. We'd do the test at the furthest point forward and furthest point back.

Did you ever find out if the bench seat will work/fit? I was wondering the same exact thing myself. I'm 6'7" and I'm definitely doing the 1" drop. I plan on using the 89 GT seats with the Pony upholstery but I just love seeing the bench seats. I'm looking for a bench seat should I be looking for a later year?
