This preview and recent moves by Elite are encouraging. Especially after the (heart)breaking news of the Neo 3M - and Garmin/Tacx’s stunning display of market ignorance and product development hubris. Hopefully they will undergo the same reckoning and redemption that Wahoo appears to be going through. If Magene and others do not simply render them irrelevant before then.

I got an h3 for sub $500 in the sale right before the bankruptcy went public. With today’s prices I kind of regret that, everyone else has new features, and I bet they never will with their financial problems. It’s a fine trainer though and I like that it is made in the USA.

Same here. It's certainly fine for my needs though and the price was right for replacing my Saris wheel-on trainer. Saris has always struggled in the product management area with their smart trainers, but in my experience the build quality has been bombproof.
@Chader9

Much appreciated for the straight talk as always, especially with the odd Saris games. Unless they can show some other case design changes between the 3/3+, they are essentially ripping off anyone willing to fork over MSRP/RRP on the 3+ when the 3 is identical other than a tiny amount of metal incorrectly placed on a freehub body. The marketing surrounding this is borderline insulting and/or deceptive as well IMO. Shame really, since the core function of their trainers has been great in my experience and I think they had potential to help push the envelope here. But they seem to be treading water and trying to salvage excess inventory with minimal cash or time on their part other than marketing spin. Of the 3 trainers, the Magene is most interesting and hopefully we can see how they really stack up against the other big dogs. Thanks for the effort as always :D

I've had the T600 for a few weeks. It's been working well so far and very responsive compared to my old flywheel based trainer. Power seems about right, though I don't have set up to accurately measure it. Road feel function I have not managed to get working with Zwift as yet.

I bought a T600. When I compare the power data from magene T600 and my on bike power meter. I find that the power data from magene T600 is just a joke. It's like the power curve is mixed in with a sin wave noise of some sort. It's so far off from the +-1% accuracy claim. It's more like +-5% with the noise. The power number is always high when sprinting, and it's always low when riding normal. Basically it means that your power data from the trainer would not be comparable to your power data from your bike. And if you do short intervals (30 seconds), the difference could be as high as 10% (think 10% of 500w is 50w). I had to return the unit back to magene headquarter. And in their exam, they just rode the trainer for 20 mins (I suspect in ergo mode) and showed me that the avg and normalized power is within 1 percent to a quarq power meter and a garmin vector power meter. They didn't show me the power curve at all. And they claimed the unit was fine. I had to file a compliant against the seller to the consumer protection agency in order to return the unit and get a refund.

They need a total refresh across their whole range. A NEO 3 is long overdue, but that'll only take care of the high-end. There's a LOT of attention on the low-mid range now the Hub has shaken the market up. Garmin/Tacx need to launch a NEO 3 with similar features as the T600 (at a minimum!) and replace the Flux with a new design altogether and at a price that's ballpark competitive with the Hub/CORE/Suito.

Any word on any new or updated indoor bikes? All the big names haven't changed anything in years now.
@gplama
8 ай бұрын
Garmin: Updated their Neo Bike with the Neo Bike Plus about 12 months ago. It wasn't really much of an upgrade. Lots of issues with the first production release they sent for review. They released a firmware update on the day the Neo Bike Plus I had was returned. Wahoo: Kickr Bike 2 - Similar to the Neo Bike Plus, it was a very small incremental update. Their recently launched Kickr Bike SHIFT is noteworthy. It's damn quiet compared to anything I've used before. Stages: SB20 is still a thing. It's a few years old now. Needs a refresh with the levers/shifters. I've never liked those. Seems like there's issues at Stages at a company level with support at present. I'd be hesitant to make a big purchase from them without first getting some assurance they'll be around for a few years. WattBike: Who knows. Their ATOM units performed pretty bad a few years ago when really put to the test with my protocol. I had a terrible interaction with them regarding testing newer units (ATOM X, NG) as they didn't like my review. Haven't spoken to them in years. I've seen a few posts lately complaining about ERG performance, so I suspect they're still pretty ordinary units when really put to the sword.

I recently bought magene t600 and cycplus t3. The power data from magene t600 is just a joke. It's like the power data is mixed in with sin wave noise or something. It's all over the place. As a result, in short sprint the power is 10% more than my power meter, yet in long endurance ride the power is 3% less than my power meter. It's just unusable. So far away from the +-1% power accuracy claim. I had to return it. The cycplus t3 has next to perfect power accuracy when compared with my power meter. I experienced 0 slip when sprinting or climbing steep gradient at 50% trainer difficulty. It's a very good trainer. It's just that the noise of the drive unit is very loud. It sounds like a tesla in parking mode aka the UFO sound. And it does not have 10hz race mode or any kind of bridging. So the price of cycplus t3 is a hard pill to swallow. I wish that it would just replace cycplus t2 and be sold at the same price.
