The 5th edition of our video diary.
We decided to leave the UK and run back to mainland Europe as the weather is just not on our side. Also, the UK villages, towns and cities are completely missing a trick when it comes to facilities and hospitality for campervans and motorhomes.
However, as we arrive back in France and head south towards the Pyrenees the weather just continues to beat us down. We therefore decide to not drive too far each day and hope to see some sun again soon.
Our first stop en-route is the charming town of Etretat where we partake in a lovely cliff top walk. It reminded us of some of the walks along the south coast of England around Dover with its white cliffs and the views and rock formations were stunning.
As we continue south we are constantly pounded by the rain everyday and it seems like it will never stop! We have to start to think about each park up to ensure we do not get stuck in mud, especially in a remote location.
We therefore end up on the banks of the River Seine in a town which could be a movie set. Where is everybody? The facilities again on offer are above and beyond with plenty of grass area for Koa to stretch his legs.
Next we hit the religious city of Lisieux which draws vast numbers of Catholic visitors. In fact, it is considered the second most important pilgrimage site in France, thanks to its 19th-century saint, Thérèse Martin. Thérèse’s popularity also explains Lisieux’s extravagant 20th-century hillside basilica, which outdoes its medieval cathedral and is often compared to the basilica of Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre in Paris.
After the high life of city life it's time for a day in nature and Koa enjoys his first visit to some vineyards where he can roam free until his heart is content with no boundaries on his exploring. This is what we truly came for.
To end this week, we meet a lovely couple in another random park up, but strike up a conversation with the help of Mr Google translate and the conversation ends with a beautiful gift that will be passed on to the many once we reach the Picos de Europa National Park.
Thank you in advance for watching, and we hope you enjoy our attempt at bringing our adventures into your home.
Rich & Koa.
