If you're using a cream product, use a synthetic brush to blend. It will really help where a natural hair brush will collect the cream and make it patchy

I did blend it with synthetic brushes, but I think I need to try a different shape.

Thank God... someone that echoes my thoughts on those nasty Elf Cream Shadows! Lol. They are literally the stickiest formula ever, and there's no time for blending. Enjoyed your video!

I found this too. NO time to blend it. Dries pretty much straight away. I tried with finger and brush. :-(

I have the elf eye sticks and I love them. I have old skin and crepiness is an issue. I just scribble them on and blend with my finger but I have noticed that the type of primer I use changes their move ability quite a lot. Because they have primer included in the formula, try just a bare moisturized lid.

Years ago ELF made potted cream eyeshadows that were shimmery instead of matte but discontinued them which was unfortunate they were way better than those matte ones ugh! They should bring the original ones back!

I've found that when I lay down too much of my Laura Mercier caviar stick in cocoa (a dark brown), I also get some patchiness. I can't blend it out very well. Maybe try a light layer first with the Elf stick and build up? Sometimes I find that when I use shadow sticks, I'm so rough with my eye lids. I'm blending and moving my lids so much. Probably not good for them!

Totally agree. Lotion/true cream shadows are much better. Try the Danessa Myricks Color Fix matte colors. They are very easy to pat on with the finger and just blend the edges with a brush. Theres no tugging since its like working with a lotion.

I have the ELF cream shadow in white, and I agree, its not smooth at all. But I still use it as a base for colorful shadows. It makes them last a lot longer and pop. I dont think ill repurchase though. Maybe ill get the Danessa colorfix in white or a clown white lite pigment from Graftobian. I hear that last one is nit greasy.

Kiko Milano an Italian brand I adore makes Excellent cream shadow sticks and “water single eyeshadows” that you can use wet or dry in tons of shades and they’re having a great sale now!! Better than Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown AND super affordable especially on sale. They also have absolutely gorgeous blush and complexion products!! You’ll love them!

I got Canyon today and was super careful after watching your video! I actually applied it with a flat angled brush (like the Real Techniques Instapop eye brush) with a light hand and it turned out nice! I got a pretty diffused look, although the formula is really clingy/sticky like you said. Not the easiest product to work with for sure.

Though not interested in Elf makeup atm that tiny bronzer brush looks pretty interesting! I just purchased it. I like how small it is and able to fit in small jars! Going to try it with my Phytosurgence products! Thanks for the informative vid!

I found the same thing with the no budge eye shadow in their orange shade (don’t know what the name is) I expected it to be sheer. It was a mess. The second time I used a dense bristle brush and it went on more easily.

What about trying the Maui blush as a one and done shadow? I can't find anyone that's done it! We've have very similar coloring, I just came across you and will continue to follow!

don't use eyeshadow primer. that's what's preventing blending because the formula is itself already a primer (plus pigment).

Has anyone ever mentioned that you remind them of Laura Dern? She's a little older now, so I'm referring to Laura Dern from about 20 years ago. I mean that's as a compliment as I love her and think she's really talented!

@@ShanrellsStash I just checked out a few other techniques on KZitem for these products, and it seems like everyone agrees-work quickly! I saw someone apply Canyon directly on with a fluffy blending brush, and it blended out well that way. Your poor eyelids may protest another attempt, but maybe that’s the best way to make these work.

@@courtlandtmartin6649 Have you had a chance to use them or did you get rid of them before trying? Asking because I have several of the sticks. Both matte and shimmer. I have older lids that are a bit hooded. I've never had a problem using the sticks. In fact I prefer the shimmers vs one in a pan. They lay down and the glitter stays in place without the use of a glitter glue. I haven't purchased any of the pots but it's not because I don't want to or that I'm worried I won't be able to work with them. As of a few weeks back I still haven't been able to find them stocked in store. I don't like ordering online. I want to see the shades in person. Hopefully you gave the sticks a try. I can use them with or without a eye primer but since they have such great staying power if I'm in a hurry I'll forego the primer. I've seen a few other creators use both and they're were able to use them with no issues. Just keep in mind. What works or doesn't for one person it just may or may not work for you... 😉

@@tammiemartinez6485 Thank you for this! Yes, I do actually enjoy the stick formula! I have to use an eye primer on my oily lids first, but then I’ve had good results. I do find the potted version to be harder to work with, but I’ve kept it to keep working on my methods! I’m glad to hear that the sticks work for you-when you find a winner for your own needs, you’ve got to keep doing what’s working!
