Dear brother, I asked the Lord to address to me questions that I had that you covered in this video. He directed me here. Thank you for all the work that you do. May the Lord continue to use you to give others a reason for our faith. God bless you.

Amazingly insightful! For me, it's a 40 minute gateway to months of further research. You're able to concentrate a vast amount of information into a short video, running at breakneck speed. I deeply appreciate your effort and intelligence.

Thank you for the kind comment! The breakneck pace can be a bit much at times, but I am just trying to get it all out there in a ‘cliff notes’ style. Glad it is a help to you in doing more research!! I put a number of related resources under the video description that can be a great place to start…

I often wonder why we don't have a scripture of Jesus saying "Hey, guys, you might want to write all this down." And the fact that the apostles didn't get to writing down everything right away. It doesn't make me doubt, of course. It is just something I ponder. I even wonder whether the gospels were thought to be canonized and to be studied all these years. The fact that there are contradictions in the Gospels and differences in the genealogies of Christ...is something to ponder. It just goes to show how important a testimony from the Holy Spirit is. For me it is just more proof that Heavenly Father is really more concerned with us becoming what we must become and not with satisfying our questions about history. I'm not sure if you brought this up in a video or where I heard it, but Elder Maxwell said that he found God gave more instruction than explanation. It is apparent that God's purpose for scripture is not the same as what man often wants out of scripture. I am more and more convinced that God is the guy driving the minivan and we are the kids in the back asking where are we going when we don't know about any destination much beyond our own neighborhood. He's going to get us there if we just sit back and do what we need to do. My 2 cents.

The British decline is the belief of Christ’s resurrection is also due to the large influx of Muslim’s who believe Jesus was a prophet, not the son of God.

That would have influenced things overall for the country, but note the BBC survey I used to make those points at the start of the video had data specifically of Christians (“active” Christians were also separated out). Yesterday as I was pondering your channel and a few conversations I'm having with people who I deeply care about in regards to the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has been restored on Earth, it would be very good to have deeper insights on the signs that follow the prophets in the church. My own research would be great, and you also have a channel that has a bit of a following and more so a channel where anyone can come and learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What are your thoughts on making a video on the signs of modern-day Prophets?

Hi Brother, I don’t mean to put you in the hot spot ( sorry, Lol) ok, so in, um this is off topic, but maybe in a way it can help tie information together a bit. Ok, so 600 BCE around that era in the Book of Mormon 1Nephi 13:20 in the latter half of the verse Nephi says he saw a Book, and it was carried forth among them. From my subjective studies I am not aware of books existing in that era?! I guess what I’m asking Brother do you know whether or not the original word for books may have been exchanged from scroll perhaps?! The first Bible I’m aware of that was written was in 1455 AD and it was the Gutenberg Bible.

I wanted to add to my previous statement. 1st it’s been a long time since I have read the Book of Mormon, and 2nd. This is why we all should finish the chapter to get a better understanding of each verse. It made sense after I completed the chapter. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Sounds like you already answered the question - this “book” Nephi saw in vision was the future Bible which was had by the pilgrims and early colonizers of America. I will take this opportunity however to share links to 2 other videos I did, in which this concept you brought up - word usage in the Book of Mormon possibly adapted for our days - is discussed in detail: Understanding Book of Mormon Word Choice: kzitem.info/news/bejne/uq2hvXaJk5aaoI4 Why Anachronisms in the Book of Mormon: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tYF_yo6hkqmZpaQ

The earliest fragment of any part of the New Testament is a small business card size fragment of the Gospel of John known as Papyrus P52, and it has been dated, at the earliest, to 125, but could be as late as 250. Here are all the details on the topic from Wikipedia (look near the bottom for the section “Dating - Earliest Extant Manuscripts”): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_manuscript#:~:text=The%20earliest%20manuscript%20of%20a,half%20of%20the%202nd%20century.

A church is an ideological machine, an organization that promotes a certain philosophy or way of life. God and Satan each have their churches, and each promote very different ways of life. No longer do we have churches dedicated to the Roman gods, or the Greek gods or the Egyptian gods or the Assyrian gods. Now there there are just two main churches, The Judeo/Christian church, and the church of the philosophers, what we now call higher education. This is why Hugh Nibley made that famous remark about being dressed in the robes of a false priesthood. The graduation gowns, like clerical robes or a judge's robes, date back to the schools of philosophy, where the robe was a symbol of graduation.

You said Hugh Nibley was not a prophet. What does and does not make a prophet?
@latterdaysaintsqa
4 жыл бұрын
I am glad you asked that question because I kind of regret wording it that way in the video - my point was he wasn’t the prophet of the church saying this or one of those 15 we sustain as prophets, seers and revelators. In a sense, any of us could be a “prophet”, in that we can experience the gift of prophecy. As Moses said, would God that all the Lord’s people were prophets (Num 11:29). Then to make it even more expensive or definitive, in Rev 19:10 John says the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

@@latterdaysaintsqa I think you shouldn't regret your description. We don't believe God gives revelation for the world through those who are not his prophet.

Oh, also I wonder if our history of Jesus/Yeshua( in Hebrew) was actually written in Hebrew first? I would think so only because according to the scriptures he came FIRST for the lost tribes of Israel, but then again perhaps they were written originally in Greek. Either way I’m so thankful for the Book of Mormon. It helps me a lot.

The New Testament was originally written in Greek, the common language of that day. The earlier Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, but was also later translated into Greek (referred to as the Septuagint).

Don't forget Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus in his day to day life. There is some evidence that some of the New Testament books, most particularly Revelations, may have been written in Aramaic first, and then translated into Greek.

The Lord protected the accuracy of the New Testament even though His Servants the Prophets did not have control over it by having multiple versions kept by different persons and groups. That way if one version was changed by accident or on purpose, the correct version could be found by comparing it to the other versions. This ability to cross examine however was not very well in place during the first century. God must have allowed the adversary to do some of his dirty work.

LDS Church has >70,000 missionaries in the field LDS families have 1.7x more children than the average American family. and yet... 0% growth rate among those that identify as LDS. I would infer that it is possible people are leaving the LDS church at a similar rate as members of Protestant and Catholic churches, BUT the LDS church has taken more action to refill their pews with new members, which results in the 0% net change. That very well may be a correct statement - for which I am very grateful to those willing to sacrifice their time and money to serve missions, especially during their peak years of self-absorption. I did an entire video on that topic. …and also grateful for many LDS members continuing to take seriously the God-given instruction to Adam & Eve to multiply and replenish the earth. A great talk on that was just given in the Apr 2021 LDS General Conference by Elder Neil Anderson of the 12 Apostles - here is a direct link: Andersonabn.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2021/04/26andersen?lang=eng. I will take breakeven or growth equal to population growth over a 17% loss any day!

I was thinking that too, and also how are 'members' of different churches decided? Because I'm pretty sure a lot of people who leave don't have their names taken off, and I'm not sure if that's the same for other churches
