Mike was the necessary fluff needed to maintain interest from viewers who weren't into wrenching. I can't argue with the producers on that one, really. It's all about expanding market and all that junk. They just seem to miss the idea that gearheads tune out. They're just trading one set of viewers for another. They never realize that it's ok to target a smaller audience. The generic formats have way more competition these days.

Same same - we hover over the channel button and if it’s not an “Edd episode”, the cry goes up “No no no” and the channel is promptly changed. In Australia they have been mixing up the episodes/series (to probably try and get people watching the “new series”), but all it is is distressing - I’ve also learnt not to even trust the TV guide as it will use the blurb that includes Edd’s name when it’s clearly NOT an episode that includes Edd!! Sneaky buggers.

Welcome back Edd, wishing you every success for the future, on and off the screen. It was your depth of knowledge, accompanied by your no nonsense approach to engineering, your multi-disciplinary talents, that approach you brought to every episode that kept me watching the other show. You are picking up so many compliments that's a great sign for the future of your series. From an industrial electrician, a UK apprentice of the sixties, a period of the "Lines Of Demarcation" whereby mechanical and electrical trades didn't cross in manufacturing over decades. I was my own boss with my 1953 Austin A40 Somerset 1200cc, my first car owned in 1965. My first serious problem was a sheared half-shaft with the spline still stuck in the diff, a perfect challenge and the start of great days learning new skills. Still in place with a 1997 E320 W210 Mercedes, who needs garages 55 years later.

This comment is for Edd's film crew. The single light on Edd's right with the color light behind is fine for the intro sequence but when Edd starts working on the project its very difficult to see what he is doing when the parts are in the dark. Also, we never once see what he is working on. When he mentions "the van" maybe do a quick B-Roll shot or something to give context for those that maybe dont know what it is he is working on right away. Same with a full shot of the shop. He shares all the work hes done and basically we just have a closeup of him grinding on a staircase. Doing great, just some changes for next one.

Can only agree to your comment. This episode (?) did not yet give me the "Yeah, Edd is back" feeling.

@@S03pkip Its a new crew for him and looking at their shots they have some good gear and techniques. Its just they lack the storytelling aspect I think most that do car shows use. They will get there I am sure

Also I noticed a buzzing noise at some points. Sounded like a ballast from a neon light.

Just a thought. How much did you pay to watch this free content on KZitem? I'm sure Edd would love to bring in Spielberg and his crew, but on the revenue a sponsorship generates I don't think the budget would run to it. I'm just extremely grateful to see Edd putting out content.

Edd was really the hero on WD and Mike stole a lot of his thunder. He knows his engines and the fixes. Wish him the best.
