•Overview
It may not be the most exciting choice, but the Toyota Camry Hybrid is popular for its affordability, roominess, and efficiency. For 2025, the family sedan gets a new look and bolsters its frugal credentials by shifting its once-expansive powertrain lineup (last year it included both a hybrid and non-hybrid four-cylinder as well as a V-6) to include just two hybrid options. . Available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the new hybrid-only Camry produces as much as 232 horsepower. Toyota hasn't announced one yet, but we may also see a more powerful plug-in hybrid Camry Prime this time around. The interior has been refreshed with more modern infotainment technology and styling inspired by the larger Crown sedan, but the Camry Hybrid remains a midsize car aimed at tough rivals like the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata.
• What's New in 2025?
The Camry enters its ninth generation with the 2025 model year, complete with a styling overhaul, redesigned cabin and a revised special hybrid powertrain set.
• Engine, Transmission and Performance
The Hybrid has a pair of hybrid powertrains, one powering the front wheels and the other driving all four. Front-wheel-drive models feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors that combine to produce 225 horsepower, while all-wheel-drive models add a third motor that drives the rear axle and increases total power to 232 ponies. A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard on both setups. These powertrains are similar to those found in the Toyota Prius, with only a 2.5-liter engine instead of the Prius' 2.0-liter four.
• Interior, Comfort and Cargo
In the spacious interior of the Camry Hybrid, there is plenty of space for adults to get comfortable in the front and rear seats. The instrument panel design is highlighted by a large trim piece that extends from the passenger side to the infotainment screen. Cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear air vents are standard. XLE and XSE models include leather upholstery, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, acoustic laminated glass, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and adjustable rear headrests.
• Infotainment and Connectivity
LE and SE trims get an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while XLE and XSE models come with a larger 12.3-inch unit. Either way, both screens run Toyota's latest software interface, which we found intuitive and fast. All models come with a digitized instrument display, but only the top two trims get the larger 12.3-inch all-digital version. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are generally standard and work wirelessly on all trims. The nine-speaker JBL stereo system is an optional upgrade, but it will likely only be on Camrys with the larger 12.3-inch infotainment system.
