This is the upgrade and replacement for the Viper HS and Viper HST lines not the Viper PST lines. Major upgrade for the lines they are replacing. The 3-15x44mm with the VMR-3 reticle is a slam dunk for me, I love Leupold’s VX5 firedot reticle but the Vortex is almost half the price with similar features. Will be great for hunting.

That 2-10x42 grabbed my attention. It’s about half the price of Leupold’s V-5HD 2-10x42 which is a great hunting scope IMHO. Some Vortex scopes weigh a lot more than comparable, but this one weighs 3-1/2 ounces more than the more expensive scope. Not bad! I like the capped turrets and the simple reticle.

I've been waiting for vortex to make this 2-10x42 myself. wanted the Vx5HD 2-10x42 but just cant justify the price. not sure why it took so long for them to make this model with a simple illuminated reticle btu glad they finally did

What is the eye relief like on it at lower magnifications? Contemplating putting it on a 375 Ruger, but worried that 3.4" is on the low side.
@chipsterb4946

@@jonyork999 eye relief is longest at lowest magnification. 3-4” is pretty typical today. It depends a lot on your rifle and mount/rings. For example, I just put a longer eye relief (6”) on an older rifle because of where you can put a scope on it.

I bought a vortex 10x for almost 800 thinking i had to spend that kind of money for good glass then i found the Athion 5x24x56 2nd gen scope for 400 and can crank it all the way to 24 and still see through the scope perfectly without shadowing. Ffp athion and all tjose newer companies have thankfully ended the monopoly of descent rifle scopes. I 100% will say with certainty the galss in my $800 viper is no better then the $400 25x. Might of been a slam dunk prior to the end of the monopoly now they are simply over priced average glass.

As far as medium power scopes go,I'm really partial to the Athlon Helos BTR gen2 2-12x42,w/it's combo segmented circle/x-mas tree illuminated reticle,zero stop/locking turrets,& it's 1st focal plane as well,& at +/-$450,it covers a lot of what shooters want in an optic. Vortex makes good scopes,& the ones i've owned worked well,but I'm not convinced they're offering enough options as other companies currently are

I wish they had parallax adj. On the the 2-10 version. I find that when I use the fast focus for 400yard+ the cross hairs become out focus trying to get the crispest image. I prefer SFP on low power for hunting.

At 400 yds 20plus mag does come in handy. From spotting your impacts for zero, target I'd at extended range and fine tuning shot placement. My girlfriend has a 6.5 cm Ruger hunter with the vortex viper pa. Does well with the 143s. 200-300 yds consistently drops them

Как дела с надёжностью (durability)? Vortex Viper не надёжный прицел. Рано или поздно сломается.

I would agree with you in most Vortex products. They have the best customer service in the business because you are going to use it a lot. However, I have never had significant problem with the Viper line of optics. They seem to build the Viper Scopes to be durable.

1. WHY ARE YOU STOPPING THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ENTIRE reticle and only illuminating SOME of the reticle? With more and more people adopting night vision on their rifles, this makes ZERO sense. AND STOP USING PUSHBUTTON ILLUMINATION lol. I doubt youre going to do it better than Nightforce and even nightforces sucks and everyone knows it. I LOVED vortexes illumination and reticles, and now you've gone in reverse. I just dont understand what was wrong with the previous viper gen 2's reticle? Why would you yank more illumination?
@biggs8729
4 ай бұрын
Each to his own, but I actually like the push button illumination. Reason? I like most of my scopes to be hunter friendly and rotating illumination knobs usually add a lot of un-necessary width to the scope and tend to get caught on my pack and twist on and off on their own. By illuminating only the center, you are not adding a lot of un-necessary light into the scope which can wash out what little of the target you are able to see in the dim lighting conditions. You can see more in low light if less of the reticle is illuminated.

This is a upgrade for the Viper HS ,HS-LR, and HS-T lines not the PST lines so they are actually moving forward . I’m sure they have a PST gen3 in the works. I personally love this line up of scopes will be great for elk and deer hunting.
