I have this light above a nano 80L tank, with frogskin acros, acropora enchinata blue ‘hawkins’, and blue slimer acro’s.. also seriatopora hysterix and purple stylopora.. they are about 20cm beneath the surface in the middle, but they are in about 280 par and doing fine and growing!

As long as you do your research on everything and are diligent with your husbandry it’s almost impossible to mess up unless something really out of left field happens, like a really bad equipment malfunction or power outage, Which can be remedied by always having backup equipment ready to switch out anyways and having battery backups or battery powered pumps to keep water circulation going.

@JNetwork32 still get fluctuations in large tanks but it takes long to spike so you have more time to correct it. Never be mistaken that large tanks are easy as you still can get really bad spikes if left uncheck plus you have alot more money spent on corals to fill the large tank. Things still go wrong it's all about patience and time.

Hey IR, I think if you bring a smaller LED (Nano Glow - 4 LED lights) right down on top of your refugium, it will grow. Your light is to far away from it. I do both, run GFO as well as refugium. Give it a try. 👍🏻

You probably figured out the doser years back but in case not- You will have silicone lines. Switch them for PVC. Silicone lines actually are gas-permeable. Air can cross through and harden the mixture. Happens worse on the suction side where the weight of the liquid basically pulls air in. Took me forever to figure this one out on my setup :) No more issues.

After watching your video on the coralbox wf-01 doser and all for reef on this tank, I went out and bought two for my nano tanks. I found that one of the dosers had issues with air getting in the line and also had the crystallized all for reef in the lines. The other one had no issues at all with air getting in the line and it never crystallized the all for reef. I fixed the air issue with a couple of zip ties on the connections between the container and the check valves and haven't had an issue since and I've been using them for the past year. I know this isn't very scientific, but that was my experience. My question to you is, did you have issues with air getting into your doser? Also did Bob make the move?

Find whatever budget your parents will allow (if they will) and go as big as you can. Smaller tanks are neat but harder to maintain, if one parameter swings, it swings hard because you have little water volume. A 125 (I assume 6x2x2?) would be a nice setup. I started with a 180gal years ago, have set up many since, smaller tanks require are fine, you just need to make sure you have your eyes on it daily.. It's less forgiving.
