So today we test out the new Zoom R4 handheld recorder.
Input A is set to the onboard mic to capture my voice and a little bit of the room sound. *Note, I do not have the recorder close to my face so it didn't pick up my voice as clear as it could have but it does VERY well when placed closer to the face. Great sounding mic.
Input B is a 57 style mic simply hanging over the face of a guitar combo amp.
For the price I believe it is a very nice piece of equipment. I would however love to see the anti-peaking on the input work a little better and it would be a MAJOR step up if you could record both XLR inputs simultaneously in addition to using the onboard mic at the same time. Maybe in a future model. All in all, a fantastic unit for singer/songwriters, blog guys, gear demos and clean recording of 2 inputs. Very easy to use as well. Zoom if you are listening, make one of these with the built in FX, analog sliders and 4+ simultaneous tracks and you would have a huge win with me.
