On May 4, 2020 at 0120 hours NFD units were dispatched to 32 N. Buena Vista Street for report of a house fire. While responding the dispatcher advised they were receiving additional calls reporting smoke and fire showing.
Unfortunately, I failed to activated my dash-cam when rolling out of the station. The good news is I remembered my helmet cam and you get about 5 minutes of helmet cam footage, showing my perspective and then I activate the dashcam. I think you will still enjoy the video.
The following equipment was on the initial assignment:
Battalion-1 with a crew of 1 (Me)
Rescue-1 (engine/rescue) with a crew of 4
Tower-1 (105 ft platform) with a crew of 4
Engine-2 with a crew of 3
Medic-2 (firefighter/paramedics) with a crew of 2
Ladder-3 (100 ft ladder) with a crew of 3
Medic-3 with a crew of 2
The working fire announcement brought an additional 2 engines and 1 medic
Engine-52 (Heath FD) with a crew of 2
Rescue-51 (Heath FD-engine/rescue) with a crew of 3
Medic-201 (Granville FD) with a crew of 3
Upon arrival a 360 of the building revealed three separate fires had been set inside the home. Bilco doors on the Charlie side of the building were open with smoke coming from the basement. Smoke was also visible from a first floor window on the Bravo side. And fire was visible from a second floor window on the Alpha side. The initial attack crew was redirected from the front door to the rear of the house to enter the basement and attack the fire. As additional crews arrived, they were assigned to the first and second floor to search for occupants and extinguish the other fires.
The fire was contained to the building, only to be set on fire again on May 18th. That video will be uploaded soon. Both fires were determined to be arson.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries at this fire.
