This is a Newcomb R-12C4 mono record player that I converted to modded Fender 5c1 champ circuit. I've kept the 6x4 rectifier and 6v6 power tube from the record player and changed the preamp to a 6sj7 like the 5c1. I also added the tone control from the 5f2a tweed princeton. This decreases the gain just a bit but adds a lot more tonal options. It's also necessary for the record player portion in order to roll of the high end. This still works as a mono record player. The headphone/speaker out has been repurposed as an input jack. It's a switched jack which disengages the phono cartridge when an instrument cable is plugged in. The record player has a 6x9 alnico speaker which gives a bit more low end than the traditional 6" in a tweed champ.
