I had the same story before with a $700 purchase. I found a better deal and canceled it 5 seconds after I ordered. They sent it anyways and so when it arrived I returned it at the door. The package was never in my custody. It was sent back and they never sent a refund and refused to over a month span. I started a three way call with my bank and got the issue resolved. Their excuse was that it was stuck in shipping and was my fault. You may need to do the same through your bank and I recommend doing so.

Its interesting. When it comes to a delivery service to a residential or a postman service, it's impolite. But when it comes to logistics of major commerce; like shipper receiver and carrier, its okay. That is why carriers charge a fee for wait time to unload a product. The product often times has to be counted and inspected before it is accepted. It's interesting how the industry is set up so that the consumer doesn't really have the same option. The only reason is money. Time is money. And the delivery person has a time quota. Thats the only problem. It's just interesting how it is and how most people think about it. I don't have an opinion on the matter. It's just interesting.

If the neighbour doesn't answer, they post a different card through your door telling you to collect the item from your nearest depo. And the delivery person will take it back to that depo. And yet it seems that is still official theoretical policy, obsoleted by time pressures for sure. But long ago there weren't abundant video cameras you could use to film unboxing. I guess back then businesses simply typically trusted the customer more, although I also remember exceptions from that.

I made a huge oversight and ordered a ASUS mobo that was openbox. I get it and they don't include the backplate and its covered in used thermal paste. I call and was told too bad for me. I also notice the original RMA sticker is still on the bag and it says that its dead. I ask them to look up the RMA to find out the issue. Rep tells me that it was tested and in perfect working order. I build the entire pc to find out its dead. Now dealing with this lady in the chat who takes over 5 minutes to respond and isn't helpful at all. I hate myself for ordering from this company...

Similar thing happened to me when shipping a return to Newegg. I had "won" a combo on the shuffle but found a better deal while the package was being shipped. This lead to me returning the products back to newegg. Both products were unopened in their original boxes when I shipped them back. Imagine my surprise when I get hit with a restocking fee for one of the products being deemed as opened by their warehouse; I started a chat with customer service where the representative told me that because the warehouse crew said one of the packages was opened, they could not remove the fee. I had pictures of the packages at the shipping facility and argued that the packages had to be unopened because I had them returned as refused shipments (this can only be done through the original label if the package is still sealed). It took an escalation and me emailing the pictures before they removed the fee from the shipment. Real fun company to work with!

This happened to me with a Z690 Hero motherboard as a part of the ASUS recall of the product. They also claimed bent pins (despite the unrelated fire hazard that this board poses). This is currently in dispute, but Newegg is adamant that there was user-caused damage. I asked for pictures, which they said they would check on and send, but I never received a single one. In over 20 years of building, I have never bent a pin - nor have I had an issue with Newegg in those 20 years. I'm out $600 unless I win my dispute, and Newegg is out an 18+ year customer.

Tried to post this a few times lol, keeps getting pulled... But yhea my last mobo from Asus, I got it off amazon for the reason of their complex market corner scheme of a return policy that at least acknowledges that they are essentially a 3rd party dumpsterfire hole... That Asus has no sticker on the box or the static bag is concerning as hell, specially for a 450 dollar motherboard. I started a cross ship return immediately and was able to compare the two, finding the second in worse condition than the first one (box bruising, pins poking holes in bag... not a seal sticker to be found anywhere). I tried to pick the least screwed up of the two, mighta picked wrong as I haven't booted yet* and when I socketed the CPU, the socket was popped out from the board... it did pop back in though? Did this after learning that at least I'm not alone in asus not having a box or static bag seal of any kind... but basically if I had bought this from newegg, how the hell would I be able to prove this WASN'T an open box? Part of that in this case is asus lowering the packing standards, but the egg predating on these things is exactly why I go through with the bs of amazon... The only reason amazon has been able to get away with it's transition from a first party trusted to a shady random pawn shop is because of it cornering the market with it's logistics at an absurd human and monetary cost. The idea that B and H and Egg and others can get away with this same level of restock and shipping fees with the reliability of craigs but not in person... this is a low bar that I really wish people would stop feeding into. Hell I wish people would stop feeding into any of the low bars, the hyper-normalizing of this crap is not helping my pre-Milton Friedman idealistic fantasy of capitalism, much less my faith in human... yup just humans, like conceptually. I still to this day have no idea if the two BRAND NEW boards I had, were even that... were they open box? RMA refurbished? No idea, but I know if I had gotten it from Newegg it would have cost me money just to find out the lack of sticker was a norm, and I'm sure egg never takes advantage of the fact that asus ships a 450 buck brand new board with no tamper protection seals on the box or static bag... never mind potential humidity in the warehouse, cause those boxes were sccccufffffed. From what I hear, new egg is just as bad as amazon fullfill as far as breakage goes, so, at this point... please people stop supporting the efforts of gaslighting the lower bar! Apologies for the strange language and namings, trying to keep this from getting censored, hopefully this time! *(turned into a real slow build, really wish I hadn't waited but I had to get the ram from newegg on account of amazon's lovely mislabelling... and being out of the kind needed after returning that, meh... realized I was gonna have to underclock it and since gskill switched to skhyn for its new modulus, had no guide or program for the timings at the time... thus put it off lol)

@RogerWilco99 Cause they gotta win capitalism by the quarter. You can't win unless you get ALL the money... by the quarter. Dunno what happens if you don't win, but been seeing a lot of companies throw themselves into the garbage the last 20 years, much more so the last 10, in the pursuit of getting ALL the money... short term. This is to a point that would make Rockefeller, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, JP Morg... all ruthless capitalists who would step on anyone in their way, in the name of building their empires, these guy's would be rollin in their graves if they hadn't owed the bones to satan... I feel like there might be something supernatural goin on in the speculative market that maybe us poors don't know, cause these twats go ham like a wrecking ball (or a junkie) in the pursuit of this tiny short term hollow win... Granted there are so many things in place that they themselves never really suffer in person, and they may be immune to shame (doesn't explain why they try so hard to win though...) Eventually given these safety nets come from the real money, things, people land... like it's gonna drain that to a point where someone might have to start handin out some peasant cake, but seems like until that happens this is just gonna be how it is... at least until we start demanding proper fruit pie, or pound cake instead of this angel food fluff they keep trying to feed us (and we buy, both happily, ideologically, and even worse... begrudgingly)

The worst one for me, I think it was a cellphone company anyway, I called, told them I have issues hearing on my phone, and that heavy accents in general, throw me off, idk why, just how it is, anyway, once they couldn't get me to hang up from non stop transfers only to be on hold for another 30 min, they transferred the call to a foreign call center where I couldn't hear nor really understand the poor guy. I got pissed, but then I reminded myself, it's not this guys fault im half deaf and kind of retarded. But yeah, hours and hours of playing on the phone in situations like that only to be told my few hundred bucks is lost an no one can help or refund. That few hundred bucks to me, and the other regular ass job having people is a lot of damn money to lose. To a billion dollar company, it's nothing. Sick of this shit. My blood is boiling right now thinking about it. I had a brand new Asus overpriced PC catch fuckin fire in my sleep. Think I got anything from that one either other than fucked and and silenced? I literally saved my money for almost 5 years to buy that fucking thing only for it catch fire via the GReat Wall PSU when I was ASLEEP. They offered to "replace the PSU" I was gonna go through with it, but I had a spare shittier one laying around and said fuck it. They win, AGAIN. Almost kill me, my neighbors, burn all my livlihood down and they didn't fucking offer ANYTHING other than if i ship them the PSU they will send a replacement IF THEY FOUND IT TO BE AT FAULT and we all know what would have happened then. I have stories like this for days. But yeah, my hatred does come from experience. And i sincerely, whole heartedly, fucking appreciate this channel so much for being like this.

@@Plant_Parenthood Oh, and I won't even get started on the god damn "Support Chats" OMFG Just like the video, they talk to you like a robot with no ability to read what you type, they literally ignore you and just cut and paste shit from their script files

@@DrMurdercock They are a fucking plague. Every mid size or larger company has switched to a garbage customer support model because they know we can't do anything about it. Airlines are the fucking worst about it. I work at the front desk of a hotel and Westjet Travelliance called to book 15 rooms last week but never sent me any credit card or direct billing information so I had a bunch of guests show up at the hotel and no way to pay for any of their rooms. I tried calling westjet travelliance and they just had one of those robotic voice menus that dick you around in circles until you get frustrated and hang up. I eventually found the secret path through the menu to reach an actual human being but they turned out to be some useless jackass in a call center with a script. Since my questions weren't on their script, they couldn't help me. Eventually I dug out an old credit card number from 2 weeks before, when WJ travelliance sent us guests and I charged all the rooms to that. Within 5 minutes, I got an angry phone call from them asking why I charged the card. I was livid by the end of that shift

Newegg really has gone downhill in the last 5-6 years. I've been shopping with them for about 15-16 years as well, but have started looking elsewhere when I can the last few years. This really puts the nail in the coffin for me. I wish there was a microcenter that was closer than 3 hours 🥺

In 2016, Liaison Interactive, a Chinese technology company, acquired a majority stake in Newegg in an investment deal.

I never ever try to buy from Newegg anymore. Bought a "new"motherboard, got a bent pin used motherboard. I always go through Amazon specifically for my computer parts now because they at least treat me fairly for the return process

I remember having Newegg claim this exact same thing when I was a penny-less college student. I guess they figure they can get away with claiming you bent a bin given how easy it is to do.

I bought a computer from Newegg last year, never opened it, it wasn't open box either, brand new. Returned it after deciding to not do a review on it, they wanted to charge me a 15% restocking fee because they said it was "used". It took 2 hours on the phone and 3 different people before they finally issued me a store credit for the 15% they kept.

That can't be legal. Online stores seem to get away with a lot of shit that would land physical retail stores in hot water.

So you didn't even get your money back. Store credit means they kept your money. I hate store credit. I want _my_ money back so I can spend it _wherever I please._ Take your store credit and shove it where the sun don't shine. Like I even want to do another transaction and have another crappy experience with you after the first one.

i feel like the 15% restocking fee is very fair in this case.

Not all of us that get scammed by Newegg have the platform to be able to speak up. Thank you for taking a stand publicly.
