this is sooooo cool. I didn't have a tv growing up in the 80's, but I still knew Connie Chung. I wanted to be her in an "important people in history" school event, but I wasn't Asian, so I thought I couldn't. So I was Joan of Arc instead. I related to the feeling of wanting to be in male-dominated spaces and compete. I didn't even know anything about her, but I got a Joan of Arc feeling from seeing her speak briefly on the news.

So interesting. I’ve always had a ton of respect for her, knew she was tough but never knowing her story or background.

@@HostileTakeover555 why would you know it? She is a system disruptor. You just sat on the conveyor belt being told who you were and thinking you did the damn thing. You'd never relate to someone so cool as Connie. She put in the work and is the shiii*t you just are sh*t HA

@@ratedrachel3670 Excuse me? As a female, I grew up watching Connie Chung as an inspiration and it was wonderful to watch a powerful woman being so poised and confident and a very male dominated industry and contributed to the success I’ve had in my industry. Please take your creepy aggression elsewhere.

@@HostileTakeover555 I stopped reading after "as a female" so shh go be a female and make me food I'm hungry. You want to blow the patriarchy well get to sucking babe. I'm allowed to relate to MY experience so come to my yard and you get told whats up. You're a fool on the internet who needed my acknowledgement because you know you have nothing. Connie would spit on you so would I. Now go bask in your ignorance cause u picked the wrong one prop!

@HostileTakeover555 what creepy aggression are you referring too?? The original post was nothing creepy or bad about Connie Chung. Maybe your reply was meant for another comment?!

I am old enough to remember Nancy Dickerson and some others but Connie stood out! What a delightful interview. I was there for Watergate and laughed when the venerated journalist spoke about about having to stake out for stories. One time Helen Thomas was eavesdropping on my bf (who worked at the White House} and me while we rode on the Metro and I felt like a star. Great memories.

I loved this interview so much! As a woman of your age, Mayim, I too grew up watching Connie Chung. She definitely paved the way & set precedence for women in journalism. Thank you! Maybe you can get Maury next? Would love to hear from him too! They are great icons of our childhood.

More refering to the nuance vs the literal statement but that intro you clipped of Connie is very the trans experience 😂

No, it’s the female experience.

STOP trying to co-opt the female/woman experience. It is NOT the same thing as a trans person’s experience.
