I deliberately made myself learn how to read diagrams as they were all Ancient Greek to me, and I found myself once referring to a diagram that was included with a written pattern because the pattern was confusing in one section-I honestly never thought I’d ever do that, but it did clear up the instructions! What I am very, very old school about (although I didn’t learn to crochet until almost five years ago) is how hooks are held-I have zero control over my hook if I try to use it like holding a fork like our crochet bestie in this video! That just doesn’t seem natural to me, but it’s in vogue and so many designers hold their hooks like a fork vs a steak knife😂I’m a steak knife holder…old fashioned for sure. Old beginner crochet books taught how to hold the hook steak knife fashion, but more recent training indicates both ways. I find that the tutorials are more difficult to follow with the end of the hook flying all over the place-so am so happy our bestie talks us through all of these so well! I love this newsboy hat…just completed one!!!
