Five young leaders from the 2022 Winter School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age were awarded by the European Training Foundation (ETF) the opportunity to participate in the Skills Experts’ Meeting in Turin with the International Training Center of the ILO to discuss how to close the digital divide and present their policy brief on mental health in the digital age.
The #NextGenChangeMakersengaged with experts on digital skills and lifelong learning to help bridge the intergenerational gap for an inclusive digital age. The importance of closing the digital gap is highlighted in the white paper, “Strategies to address the digital skills gap in the EU”, published this spring by HUAWEI, ALL DIGITAL and EY. As Huawei’s Senior EU Public Affairs Manager Giorgia Epicoco said, we do not want to leave the findings of the white paper in a vacuum. It is important to have everyone at the table to help shape our digital future.
The Winter School alumna challenged experts on different findings of the report, including the need to adapt learning opportunities to the needs of the market and creating a strong talent development system. They also presented their policy brief on how the EU can address the negative impacts of digitalization on the mental health of its citizens and mostly on young people.
Tony Jin, Chief Representative to the EU Institutions at Huawei said: “At Huawei we are extremely grateful to the European Training Foundation (ETF) for being part of the European Leadership Academy as a trusted partner since the inaugural edition of the School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age in Lisbon in 2021. We firmly believe in a digital age that is inclusive, diverse, and equal. We strive for a society where no one is left behind and we are honoured that the ETF has embraced this project from the beginning to inspire the next generation of leaders.”
“Being at the forefront in promoting better opportunities for all in the EU Neighbourhood, we are very happy to continue supporting talented young women and welcome the opening of the ‘Summer School for Female Leadership in the Digital Age’ to a talented young woman from the Western Balkans and from Ukraine. Through initiatives such as this, we can further reduce the gender and digital gap and boost human capital development in the region.” - Xavier Matheu de Cortada, Interim Director, ETF
