I’m pretty sure the Patriots swapped Brandon Browner over to cover Matthews, and he got shut down for the rest of the game. I’m not sure it would’ve made a difference since he still would’ve had to get past Browner during the pick play

Keep in mind this was at a time when Adams was also dealing with drops but while Adams improved, Janis didn't really develop. plus he was a 7th round white guy playing for a team that plays in a predominantly white town so he had the underdog label attached to him. It was a whole thing in 2015-16

I think Jerome Harrison, while he was a one game wonder, could of flowered into a good HB, had his health not taken a turn for the worse. He finished that season strong, and really all he needed was a push to the starting role to cause damage.

Chris Matthews was the reason Malcolm butler even was out there. Arrington originally started. But when CM torched him in the 1st half, Brandon Browner switched to Arrington and Malcolm went in for Arrington. The rest is history

Jonas Gray was either late for practice or missed it altogether the very next week after rushing for 201 and then that was it. Belichick wasn’t about to deal with some kid getting a big head after ONE good game. He hardly played Gray again after that week.

The Jonas Gray saga was a truly wild ride.... Pats fans go from being upset that Ridley was done for the year and wondering who will replace him, then Jonas has that psychotic game, then a few days later Blount gets cut from the Steelers and comes back and Jonas was a complete afterthought. And then Blount goes and puts up 203 all purpose yards and 4 TD's against the Colts in the AFCCG.

I don't know how many people caught it, but Timmy Smith's performance was done in the Super Bowl. He still holds the record for most rushing yards in a Super Bowl and would have won the SB MVP if it hadn't been patronizingly given to Doug Williams. Smith had a 9.2 YPC that game.
