@StumpyDaPaladin

Lamar is an absolute beast. But he isn't the only one. Michael Vic, RGIII, and Colin Kaepernick were Running backs with a golden arms And no one is talking about 3 of those 4 players any more. For good reasons. Because Running backs dont last in this game. They cant. No matter how good they are, no matter how well they are supported by their team and their coaching ... they have 5 good years to get Superbowl and thats it. The best example i can think of is the 2012 super bowls. I use the plural because it was literally 2 different games. In the first game the legendary ravens squad was well on its way toward its "win one for the gipper (ray lewis)" and even with flacco just making sure the ball stayed in the ravens control for the game and let the defence smother the 49'ers. One of these defensive players was Haloti Ngata. When you're 6'4", weigh 338lbs and can bench almost 500 lbs while moving faster than your average tight end ... you will force an O-line double team easily or even triple teams against some teams. Because if you don't, Haloti (or someone like him) will stop your Kaepernick / Vic / RGIII / Lamar in their tracks because he will be in their pocket before they are done doing their first look. And was (imho) the reason that the ravens put the squeeze on the 49ers for as long as they did. For those that forgot, a few minutes into the 3rd quarter the power for half the stadium went out for a good 34 minutes. After the power got back on, many players (on both sides) had cooled off to the point where they really couldn't get back in the game without risking injury. Including Haloti Ngata. Without Ngata forcing a double team Kaepernick had room to maneuver and it was a completely different game. Kaepernick and company were unstoppable and came within one scoring drive of a legendary comeback super bowl win. They just didn't have enough time. So i guess the big question here is "Is there a monsterous future hall of fame Defensive End waiting to put Lamar in the dirt for 60 minutes between now and the Superbowl?" If no then Superbowl MVP for lamar. And who knows? Maybe next year and the year after that? Maybe? But this isnt tom brady sitting pretty in an untouchable pocket. You cant make a dynasty around a playstyle that is as rough on its players as being a Running Back. Eventually if lamar doesnt get hurt badly first, the salary cap will pinch off the ravens depth of talent around him that that sort of player needs to have to flourish.
