Huh? Jacksonville hosted Superbowl XXXIX between the Eagles and the Patriots. The stadium is only half the issue in Jacksonville. The other issue is the accommodations. The last time Jacksonville hosted a Superbowl, they had to bring in river boats to accommodate fans, because they ran out of hotel rooms. So, the NFL stated right after that Superbowl, that Jacksonville won't host another superbowl until they have the proper accommodations.

Sorry but being bland is a terrible reason to build a new stadium. Having been to TIAA when I lived in Jacksonville, I actually enjoyed the small upper deck...it was an oddly intimate experience. The best part is that with it being a geographically large city, there were lots of places to park and ride to the game rather than try to find limited parking. Not winning any awards, but sufficient for the Jaguars purposes.

TIAA Bank Field is not as small or obsolete as you think. I personally been to a game in 2004 before the pools and cabanas and the super huge HD videoboards and had a good experience. I admit that what the stadium might have lacked in design features, they made up for it in charm and fan experience. Compared to Aloha Stadium, its night and day. They did host a Super Bowl in 2005 (Super Bowl XXXIX). And they are currently working with an design firm for renovations even as we speak. The plan was NEVER voted down and negotiations haven't even started yet. I know that plans for TIAA Bank Field include a new shade roof and a lot of new features along with a totally new design. So we gotta get our facts straight. TIAA Bank Field is not that bad...period.

What made sports & NFL so great in the 80's, 90's and even 00's was the home advantage of these stadiums. Ordinary people could afford to go watch their team every Sunday and therefore would create really loud, intimidating places to play. If we continue the trend of tear down & rebuild, not only will each stadium look almost identical, but it will price out the real football fans that made the NFL what it is today. Ex: I'm from Atlanta....when the Georgia Dome was sold out & rocking, it was a fun place to watch a game. The new Benz looks really cool, but for most Falcons games it's half empty. Seat licenses also don't help. I'd rather have the Old Meadowlands or Three Rivers where 80k crazy fans would make the stadium a fortress than a glorified corporate hangout at these new arenas
@PredatorKingdom

Jacksonville and Pittsburgh are really good stadiums as they look pretty nice and Pittsburgh can become iconic with age. It's not really bland at all it has that old school field to it where it feels like a community stadium. I don't think Pittsburgh needs to rebuild it as it's in a great spot by the river too and gorgeous skyline like PNC Park for the Pirates. Jacksonville looks pretty cool and it looks just as good as Tampa's and I think it can be kept up for another 10 years, it may need a roof stadium at some point. MetLife Stadium might be the worst and most obselete stadium that was built in the 21st century so far as it's just as bland and bad as the first Giants Stadium. The New York teams overall need to get out of Jersey and get their stadiums built back in the city. The Jets should revisit West Side Stadium and actually build it this time, or built a stadium on Belmont Park where the Islanders new arena UBS Arena plays. Charlotte needs to a rebuild badly, I'm 50/50 on the Browns, I'm a dome guy, but I prefer them playing outdoors. I'm surprised you didn't include Seattle and San Francisco on this list. Lumen Field in Seattle is ugly and cold, they need to move back indoors in Seattle like a new version of the Kingdome. San Francisco Levi's Stadium is trash and they need to build the stadium in San Francisco not North San Jose. I think one stadium that I'm seriously worried about is the Bills Stadium that's gonna age pretty quick and need to be replaced again.

As someone who went to a Jags game last year, the stadium here in Jacksonville isn't really all that bad. And if he had done slightly more research, he would've known Jacksonville hosted a Super Bowl. The main problem with Jacksonville hosting the Super Bowl again is the lack of things to do within walking distance of the stadium and we need more hotels in the area. With that said Shad Khan, the Jags owner, is doing what he can to make the area around the stadium better.

Those seats should be replaced by an observation deck, to let fans get more natural light in the south upper end zone during NFL games in the winter. And PLEASE replace the gray seats with seats with a beautiful rainbow, from end zone to end zone. It will make MetLife Stadium look much better if it all happens. I am hoping they do it by the 2027 NFL season because they are required to wait until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup to even think about renovating the stadium.

2005 super bowl between the Patriots and Eagles was at the Jacksonville stadium. Prince play purple Rain and they brought in cruise ships to fill in the gap of hotel rooms in Jacksonville that stadium existed before the Jaguars. The top deck was saved but I believe the bottom deck was demolished and rebuilt doubt there's any interest in leaving the stadium because it's the right size for that marketplace, the stadium in Charlotte looks boring on TV, never been there but again the main goal is to get people to go to the games and I'm not sure what the attendance is for Charlotte games. The soccer team also plays there and they could easily do the same thing in Charlotte that they did in Miami while putting her canopy or roof over the seating, the Steelers are never leaving that stadium. It's perfect size for that market, MetLife stadium is not going to be replaced for a long time. It's comfortable. The concourses are big. There is ample amount of boxes and all the things teams need to generate revenue and both the Giants and jets have an escape clause. If either team wants to go, it was also an expensive stadium to build at the time over a billion dollars when stadiums like Heinz Field or the ones in Charlotte and Jacksonville were less than half to 75% to build compared to MetLife stadium, if Cleveland builds another stadium when they have a perfectly good one, then the Browns deserve to lose if they want a hose final fours they have a basketball arena there already

Tiaa is one of the largest stadiums in the league expandable to 80k, Cities generally dont nor they shouldnt have to replace stadiums every 30 years. For 90% of the people that go amenities dont matter. The Browns just said theyre prob going to rennovate. Really about half the teams in the league with outdoor stadiums generally all are pretty similar Phi/Bal/Cin/Chi/Cle/Jax/Car/NE/TB/Den/Pit you can argue some of the atmospheres are different/better than others but they all were built in the same period with similar features and I wouldn’t say any one is vastly superior to another… People rave about Pit but honestly between the lack of escalators, the swaying of the upper deck, and the small scoreboards, it really felt cheaply built, only thing nice about it was the view. They expanded the seats in the end-zone there in front of the scoreboard that was the expansion that took place, before there were only like 5 rows behind the endzone.

I agree with you the stadium is crappy but not the worst. The location of the stadium rocks and the views from inside to outside are pretty nice. But the stadium itself was done on a major budget. When the Bills move, the Steelers will likely have the cheapest stadium in the NFL. Maybe fedex field and TIAA bank stadium are cheaper but acrisure is still very cheap. PNC park on the other hand is pretty cheap but they did everything else to a T and it’s the best park in the MLB. You can get away with a cheaper park in baseball but not in ultra rich football.
