This is a video of an anhydrous ammonia tank being pressurized until it bursts. The approximate pressure on the tank at the time of failure was 1400 - 1500 psi. Normal operating pressure for Anhydrous ammonia is 30 - 150 psi. These tanks are tested every five years to a pressure of 375 psi. This was a tank that failed its 5 year inspection. We did this as part of a training program to see just how much pressure it would take to actually make a tank fail.
