Ryan Reaves was never a case of 'washed up'. He was always overrated. He was a great fighter, but other than that, can anyone really say he had the kind of influence on the game that didn't involve the physical nature? If you look at his goalscoring stats for example, doesn't paint a great picture for him. People won't remember him as a champion, or an All-Star when he retires. He'll be simply remembered as a guy that talked the talk, but didn't really walk the walk, except in a punch-up.

@@jonah.donohue I'm not here to fight with you but Toronto is my home team, so I see Reeve's a lot--- Well he don't play a lot, so all he play's. Don't take my word for this just watch and see for yourself. When something happens on the ice, he either, just watches or arrives a second or two late. I've seen him arrive and the play is gone and that's happened enough to actually stand out. I feel bad for him because he seems quiet and detached from the game sometimes. I hope he snaps out of it because it was a three year deal and this is bound to become awkward for everyone involved.

They thought Reaves would be a next Maroon. But Maroon was doing it years younger

He doesn't even drop the gloves anymore. One dimensional player that can't seem to do anything. Never was a scorer completely agree with that. But he barely has any PIMs.

A key piece of Ovi’s lack of goals imo is how atrocious the Caps power play has been. It’s the same predictable one that’s been declining year after year and they really need to try and completely refresh it

Uh no its because they are running a different one that made it way worse. They didnt like how it was last year and this years is even worse.

Look at the points Ovechkin is putting up, next to none. He is done and there no chance he catches Gretzky in goals

Something has happened with Ovechkin, and I'm not sure what. All the reasons you give are valid, but mostly he just isn't a factor in games anymore. He's never been great on defense, but he's making a lot of giveaways. In any other situation, he would be third line at best. I'm thinking he may actually retire rather than continuing to play at a level far below what he's done throughout his career.

Gudreau is selfish for leaving Calgary, no warning or nothing kept on telling the media he wanted to be there then left high and dry to a worse team while also getting paid less. He had a good thing going on there with tkachuk but atleast tkachuk had the respect to tell the organization he wanted out so they could get something.

We need to stop being so hard on ovi in my opinion. Sure age and all could be creeping up but honestly given how dominant he was the previous 2 years prior to this year, I think apart of it could be that he is still trying to figure out life without the support from his father given that he passed away earlier this year. Losing someone like that takes time to recover from and the mental impact of it can play a role in the on ice product especially since his father was like his biggest supporter. No excuse i am just stating what I believe. 2023 sure has been rough for him and his family and friends and hopefully 2024 he'll feel rejuvenated. Tbh altogether too as long as the caps are winning games and in a playoff race spot than fuck it be glad they're rebounding from an injury plagued year last season and missing the playoffs by 10 points. Also, we have been very blessed and privileged to have seen ovi dominate the league since 2005 as a generational talent and once he retires the NHL will never be the same and I feel like people throughout his career have sort of taken him and his fame for granted I mean i bet those that are or have will regret it once he finally retires. I know it is easy to determine things based on the on ice product but we have to take into consideration about people personal lives too and how that may affect their game as well

I'm happy Johnny G is shitting the bed. He royally screwed Cgy. I was a true fan of Gaudreau, until he lied and flaked at the end. That really hurt the team but was a slap in the face to us fans.

Gaudreau definitely had a slump in the beginning of the year and looked awful, but these past 15ish games he is so back. He's getting a point per game and looking like his old self.
