Know what makes you different from most youtubers? You can make a video about a subject/place and make it not about you. You had those pictures of you just sitting enjoying the view, which I have been there and agree, it is amazing. You were able to just relax and enjoy a quiet moment without having to force yourself into it. I saw the same thing when you visited Normandy. You were there, but respectfully. Too many other people would have forced the video to be about themselves, and not where they were. Kudos Marie! You are truly a special lady, and I hope you are able to visit the US a lot more. You need to visit all 50 states as they are all truly different. (I'm only thru 37, so I have some traveling of my own to do!)

Bonjour sweetie, this is the best video of your trip so far. A few thoughts: 1) I thought the buffalo wings didn't look all that appetizing, so I wasn't surprised you didn't like them. Good thing you weren't in Buffalo in the winter. The lake effect snow from Lake Erie is brutal. I got caught in it once, and it's a terrible experience. 2) I can see why you were detained at the Canadian border; I've always thought you look suspicious.😁Just kidding Marie. I'm sure others are correct that the border agents were looking for human trafficking. 3) Calling the Falls "majestic", is the perfect description. Your camera work there was exceptionally good. Your filming skills are outstanding.

I really enjoy your videos and editing. You are lucky to have found such a generous friend! Fun useless fact; it takes 200 years for water to traverse the Great Lakes system. 99% of the water in the Great Lakes is from the last ice age 12,000 years ago, and is referred to as "fossil water". Only 1% of the water in all the Great Lakes is new water from rain, rivers, etc...since it is a closed system the outflow is extremely small and that also makes the lakes very vulnerable to pollution since the pollutants don't get flushed out.

Again, a job well done. After watching I checked something about Niagara Falls. I knew they “shut off” the American side back in 1931 but just now I learned they diverted the water again back in 1969. The plan was to remove the boulders at the base to give the falls more height. It was noted at the time that a great number of people went to the falls to see the water not flow over.

The Canadian Border Agents were probably trying to make sure you weren't being "trafficked" (human trafficking). Remind me to tell you a story about being denied entry at a border checkpoint from Montana to Canada in the 90's (didn't even need a passport back then). It's a pretty funny story now, but wasn't that funny at the time, considering the border agent told me if I didn't get in my truck and drive back to the U.S. border, she was going to shoot me, lol. The U.S. border agents thought it was hilarious.

Had an issue on a concert tour during high school. We went up to Calgary and Regina, and on our way back to the US, we went through border security. Most of us were US citizens, but we did have a few exchange students. Border patrol said "Let's make this simple. Is everyone american?" And all the exchange students said "NO!", so we got detained for almost a hour as they dealt with all the exchange student's passports. The Americans got to chill out near the bus, but our chaperones and teachers had a lot of questions to answer.

I agree, they were concerned about human trafficking. You have to give them some credit for being on the lookout. BTW/even as an American, going across the border into Canada can be nerve-wracking. They often make it a point to ask questions of everyone in the car, just to see if the accents are the same (within families) or to make sure the stories add up. It isn't like they are threatening, but it isn't exactly friendly or casual, either. I would imagine it is the same or worse for folks trying to get into the U.S.

If you ever do make it down to the southern part of the U.S. You’re going to REALLY enjoy the kindness down here. We have a thing called “Southern Hospitality”. Everyone in the southern states (Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas) are especially kind to one another. It’s something you will see pretty quickly if you ever make it to the south. But we also have a very diverse culture as well, so you have to kinda be careful in some places like New Orleans. It’s not as dangerous as say Los Angeles or New York, but you have to be careful and kinda know where your going at night particularly. But if you ever do make it down here, you’ll see that “Southern Charm” pretty quickly in Texas, Louisiana & Mississippi. There’s not much to do down here, but you’ll LOVE the Southern Hospitality for sure. And you can always shoot me a message if you ever need advice on where to go and things like that if you ever need to. Best of travels 😊

Hi ya Marie, It's beautiful catching all the fall colours throughout your trip, anchor's bar with its vintage bikes & stuff was so cool , what they do so well & one of those things I like about the states , if I recall right don't you also have some car plates on your wall. It's a shame the🐔 wings didn't live up to expectations, maybe it's just a acquired taste but you liked the spicy sauce, anyway you can't go wrong with crispy fries & a delicious sandwich .🍟🥪 I always like seeing all the old painted wooden houses & church's you drive through, it's a shame you went through that at the border, officials can be overzealous, maybe it was your accent that peaked there interest, not that makes any difference, I'm sure your not the only one , they shouldn't arrest anyone without probable cause , anyway you can laugh about it now, hopefully it wouldn't put you off returning to Canada & you'll be better prepared next time. Arriving at Niagara falls it's awesome experiencing one of nature's wonders there alongside a city, you could have gotten up much closer on a boat ride if you don't mind getting sprayed, I think it's just on the american side but your camera isn't waterproof is it, I can see why you found the views from the window so captivating & pretty at night with a jazzy 🎶 score. Thanks for your latest blog, has it really been that many, it was funny seeing you posing on a big chair, it's going to be interesting seeing more of Canada & what you made of it next time, & maybe you can show us all the coins you've collected on all your travels someday. 😀 💖 🌊 ✌️

The Canadian-USA border crossing can be tricky. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan across the river from Windsor, Ontario. For 20 years I belonged to a Windsor-Detroit Historical club and we had monthly meetings alternating between the cities. Three times Canadian customs sent me for secondary search. I still cannot figure out why other than random. The first time I was like you, I wanted to answer honestly but I wanted to be careful what I said. I am thoroughly enjoying your travelogue.

The last tile I drove to Canada was in 2019, from New York to Ottawa, and it was just my wife and myself. We were also pulled aside and had to wait for 45 minutes. At that time they gave is our passports back and welcomed in. No explanation at all. We’re both US citizens and have been to Canada a few times, as well as to other countries. 🤷♂️ Very similar experience to yours. They actually have other people in the back checking your travel, residence and even social media. The people up front chatting aren’t the ones doing anything, except customer service.

I have been one of your subscribers for a long time now and I can't believe that you were so close and yet we didn't cross paths there at the hotel. It would have been a real pleasure to have been able to meet you both there. I live not far from Niagara and I know the area very well. I would have loved to have shown you both around. There is so much to see and to do there. But I am thrilled that you came over to see our side. I tend to agree with "Fatty McButterpants", regarding your experience with our border agents. The human trafficking has become a big problem at our border crossings and our agents on both sides of the border are well aware of this and are trying to do all that they can to stop it. I would like to believe that they were working in your best interest to keep you safe. This may include appearing to waste your time while others, not visible to you at the time, were checking on the information that you provided to them at the time. Having said this; there have been a few times when I myself have experienced nasty customs agents on both sides of the border. But most of the times they have been pretty fair.

Hi Marie!! I would have loved to take that drive with you all through the Autumn leaves changing colors! The mountains were beautiful you showed. (I like those trucks too, lol) The Anchor Bar even had a Statue of Liberty in there with the cycles and license plates 😲, even though probably that sauce I saw on the wings could have ruined the taste for you. Driving through Buffalo showed some cool old architecture and bunches of brick buildings too! I am so sorry about your Canadian border delay (it happened to me coming BACK to the US from Mexico). Marie, I would have been quite petrified, as I was at the Mexican border, where they searched our car and us. But you made it to the awesome Niagara Falls 😄- WOW is that ever a sight!! (You know, that Canadian money was really pretty, including that cool coin you showed!) I saw Niagara once decades ago when I was in Toronto, but your videos of it are truly spectacular to see. Close up you can see how rapidly the water is flowing, and also see the unbelievable amount of water that pours over those falls every single second 😮❗You chose the perfect word . . . mesmerizing!! It is so beautiful, and I love the water vapor cloud that hangs over the river at the bottom of the Falls. (I loved the giant chair you slid down when trying to get pictures 🤗😄) You even ended up at a Friday's restaurant in Canada, lol (and remembered NO ICE too ☺)! Marie, I could not believe the amazing light show that goes on at the Falls at night from your perfect room view, and I would not have been able to turn away from that view!! I am really looking forward to your special Christmas video of your day in Canada, as that is going to be so fun to see. I agree with you regarding Buffalo wings. They taste terrible. Just because they're famous doesn't mean they're good! At the border crossing, you and your friend might have been "profiled", but it's also possible you were pulled aside at random. Hard to know. It is kind of off-putting to be evaluated/interrogated by border patrol. The first time I entered Canada (30+ years ago) it was with my Dad and he was driving. We pulled up to the gate and the guy said, "Citizen of?" and my Dad froze. After an uncomfortable pause, I answered "United States" from the passengers side. Luckily, we made it through. They didn't turn us around and send us back. 😄

Yeah like I said on your previous video, I was at the Falls in 1987 as a 13 year old, just having graduated from Junior High/Middle School (8th Grade). And yes, we did observe the Falls from the Canadian side. Much better access and vantage point from that side. I think it's said that the Cliff edges erode away by a foot a year. But it used to be 5 feet per year up until 1942. So yeah, the Falls used to be all the way down the valley there. But even at 1 foot per year, the Falls have receded 36 feet since I was there. That's 12 yards.

So glad you got to see Niagara Falls (from either side)! And yes, staring (from up-close) at the water going over the edge of the falls is *absolutely* mesmerizing! You're looking at the water, but somehow you're also looking into it, and beyond it ... and suddenly you realize that you've been staring at it for *so long!* Afterwards, you figure you were maybe staring at it for 10 or 15 minutes, but you feel like you took a refreshing 30 or 40 minute nap! Too bad you didn't like the wings; did they point out that there were different versions/styles? If you are going as a group, the thing to do is to order different kinds, and then sample them, and see if you like version 'A' or 'B' or 'C' or ... it might take some sampling, to find out what you really like! There must be a problem with YT, because I think this is only the 9th or 10th video I've seen! I'm a little annoyed/perturbed that I'm missing so many! Hopefully I'll catch the next one! Ciao! Dosvidanya! P.S. - that view of the falls from the hotel was *awesome!* I remember noticing that place when I visited the American side a few months ago. Some of my pictures included it. I remember thinking at the time, that the view from there must be amazing! *Joyeux Noël!*

The border crossing, either side, can be so quick and easy or more difficult and that can be for reasons that have nothing to do with any particular individuals. Sometimes there are alerts regards a type of commuter, or a special security concern that invites more scrutiny in general, or a training exercise that the public get to be the 'guinea pig' for (the lab experiment).

My friends and I used to go to Canada from the US before we were 21 because the drinking age was 18. The border guards pulled us over all the time just to hassle us because they didn't want young adults coming in to get drunk and make trouble. I’ve crossed the Peace Bridge between Buffalo and Canada many times. It can be just a few friendly questions or you can be pulled over like you were. It can be completely random. I know someone who saw what they did and the inspectors took the car doors apart to see if anything was hidden inside. Maybe you were stopped because you were in a rental car. The important thing is to keep your cool and like you said, just let them do their job and then be on your way. You did great!

That is not an easy thing to do , and yet you make it look so easy . Unfortunately, with the prevalence of drugs and human trafficking, as well as possible terrorist activity, the border agents must do their jobs , which understandably can be unnerving at times. Sometimes the many have to pay for the sins of a few. By the way, you handled that whole situation very well. There is nothing wrong with being afraid at times. We all have those moments. It’s What we do and how we control ourselves in those situations, and , despite your fear, you handled the situation beautifully. Well done!! Can’t wait to see the upcoming videos!!!😎👍👍👍

It's gonna be nice to see you in my own back yard as they say here in North America. Also sorry to hear about your troubles at the border. Entering Canada from the US I find is more of a pain than entering the US from Canada. 🇨🇦 🇺🇸

Fascinating episode Marie! I have been through so many different border crossings around the world that I'm used to the games they play. Sadly, it's when coming into the US that the border crossings get "tense". The guards tend to have watched Full Metal Jacket a few too many times and act like Gunny Hartman without justification for doing so. I was thrilled to see that you got such amazing views of Niagara Falls and your friend was wise in showing you the Canadian side. Not far from there is a museum dedicated to Nikola Tesla (a personal hero of mine) that I simply would have been required to visit while being there. It's so fun watching what you key in on, like the American semis that all of us see everyday. I smiled when you ordered the California Club. You have yet to comment on the fries. Do you like them battered like those ones were, or are you more of a traditionalist and prefer that they just be sliced potatoes? Anyway, it was an awesome episode, and I'm looking forward to seeing your Christmas episode because I'd love to see what all of that looks like to you. As for shopping, I am one of those odd people who will actually shop for Christmas presents throughout the year. I know who I'm shopping for, and if I see something that someone would really like but it happens to be June, I'm still going to buy it! That way, there's no stress around the holidays for me and I can just enjoy it and all there is to experience. Take care Marie, and thanks again for the awesome episode!

@@csnide6702 This is an American exclusive though. I've been around the world and we're the only ones that do it. I'm not one to talk though, given that when people gave me issues regarding searches they ceased breathing. I had a zero leniency policy in the Middle East as part of QRF. That said, when I see our border patrol being assholes to old people, they themselves are lower than whale sh!r in my book. It's not tolerable.

Another fun adventure, thanks for sharing! Personally, I thought the food at the end of the video looked better than your buffalo wings did. Merry Christmas Marie! ♥️

Before passports were required to travel between the US and Canada (after 9/11) it was so much easier. They usually just asked how long you were staying, where your were from and bye.

Fortunately, you don't need a full passport to travel between Canada and the USA by car or boat. For those modes of travel, you can use the much cheaper Passport Card.

Howdy, Marie. I think I see why you didn't enjoy the Buffalo wings. It looks like you ordered the plain. Next time try ordering with mild heat, vinegar based buffalo wing sauce with a side of Bleu cheese dressing. For example, Frank's Hot Sauce. The vinegar base makes the difference. Have a Merry Christmas. God bless. Bill

Canada doesn't mess around at their border crossings. One problem they have is sex workers being human trafficked from foreign countries. Unfortunately your relationship with your travel companion fit a stereotypical trafficking scenario. Older man with younger woman. KZitem runs documentary series that show live interactions at the Canadian border and along with drugs, illegal working without a permit, human trafficking of sex workers are a majority of their screenings at the border.

You are beyond gorgeous. My god…I could listen to you speak all day long. I think I am in love. Lol. I see at 00:56 you pass Monticello, NY on route 17 (Harris Bushville highway sign) as well! Not far from me. Love your positive, non-politically biased channel. I must admit, I’m a fan! -Adam By the way, usually when somebody asks where I’m from or where I live, I DONT tell them, “New York,” because they immediately think I live in the city. The answer is, “beautiful UPSTATE New York!” 😂

You were supposed to dip the wings in a bit of ranch or bleu cheese dressing! That is part of the flavor

I was surprised by just how loud the falls were when I was there many years ago. I am sure someone has suggested a very big reason on why you were stopped at the border.

I remember walking across the international bridge from the USA into Canada. This was before we were required to have passports. The border guards just waved me through. But, they stopped the English girls walking behind me. I asked them why? They said that they could tell that I was an American.🇺🇸

OMG! So sorry for your delay at the border crossing. I saw a previous comment, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they might have thought that. You are a very pretty young lady, and if they thought you were being held against your will, they would have been more cautious. I hope you come back one day to see more of Canada. I've been to the Anchor Bar. Great wings. The hot, hot sauce will burn a hole in a table. I even have a baseball hat from there. ;o)

The next time you come to the U.S and if you want to see Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Park, and Craters of the Moon National Monument also where the astronauts trained for the first Nasa Moon landing. If you want let me know I'm only a little over an hour away from all 3 and if you want to bottle feed baby bear cubs and see wildlife up close and personal I'm only 15 minutes away from a wildlife park and would show you around. You can also take a tour in the first nuclear reactor that lit the first city in the world with nuclear power, it's actually the town where I was actually born and raised and only about 45 minutes away.

For future reference, anyone new to visiting Canada is more likely to be pulled over. Neither of you did anything wrong. They just want to make sure you aren't smuggling anything or going to live in Canada. The next time you visit you'll be likely not to be hassled because now you have a record.

You're not alone on the buffalo wings. I can't stand them. Lots of Americans don't like them. They're definitely a love-it-or-hate-it food item.
