Hey Rob. You're becoming my 2nd most watched fishing channel after bid dog "John Locker:". I'm between you in Salcombe and John in Cornwall. I'm in Plymouth fishing similar grounds. You're great at explaining lures and terminal tackle but love to hear about your hardware and why you like it. Is that an Ugly stick, not sure which Penn reel...and 40lb braid I guess? Love to hear more of this in the videos. You'll be picking up sponsorship in no time. 😀 Keep up the good work 🎣 Not sure I can DM you on KZitem. If you want an Eddystone, Rutts or Hands deep on someone elses fuel let me know. Tight lines.

Hi Andy, thanks for the feedback! Yes it is an Ugly Stick GX2, 12-20lb with a 15 size Penn Fathom 2-speed lever drag and 40lb braid. I did a basic video last winter about gear but I’ve had a few similar questions so I might update date it but I’ll copy a link below anyway. Thanks for the offer of a trip out, I used to fish from Plymouth, mainly around Eddystone, cracking area. Time is my enemy but I’ll keep your offer in mind. Tight lines bud 👍🎣 kzitem.info/news/bejne/wmqiqqKdhpqegGksi=W1p4wZB5C2PVPZ8I

Bit chillier than your last one! Some nice fish there including the humble pout! Most of my fishing is beach so I don't get the swim bladder issue. Just as a matter of interest I'm sure I read , a long time ago, that you could very lightly pin prick it to let the gasses out and it could be returned if you wanted or is it an old wives tale?

Thanks Gary. There have been some studies into fish barotrauma but I haven’t seen anything conclusive. You can vent the swim bladder or an alternative is to use a descender of some sort to get it back to depth. The issues are that if the swim bladder is vented, the fish will swim away but it might not have a working swim bladder. Also, the swim bladder is the visible sign of barotrauma but the fish might also have other effects such as a liver or heart haemorrhage. I prefer just to let them settle in a bucket and assume that if they look like they’ve recovered and are swimming well they’ll be good to release. Thanks for watching 👍👍🎣🎣

Another interesting video, thanks. In deep water do you find to easy to see wrecks on your fishfinder, as I am never never sure if I'm over the wreck as the wreckage image is very shallow in 50/60m, but that could be my fishfinder. I have Navionics which shows I am over the wreck but the FF image is not as definite like you get in 20/30m ?

Thanks mate, yes, my sounder shows a clear image of the wreck in 70m. I have a Raymarine Element 7, when I bought it I seem to remember there were a couple of transponder options and I did pay a little more for the better option but it wasn’t silly money. Tight lines 🎣🎣👍👍

A decent sounder will always be good but Navionics should also put you bang on to the wreck mate?
