The 6/8 blast at the end of Kings of the Carnival Creation is one of the best sections of music ever created. He plays it with speed in aggression, but also STYLE. That song is 20 years old now, and still every time it comes on shuffle in my car, during that part, I death grip my steering wheel and grit my teeth, just absorbing the absolute magnificence of it. Still gives me chills.

15 20 years ago, when I was more into metal, I would have taken any bet with you that you can give me any metal track and I can tell you if Barker is on the drums or not. His technical skills are impressive, but what makes him stand out is something I cant really explain. I mean it`s not an accident that many bands produced their best material and reached their heights with Barker on the drums. Maybe someone can explain it with a lot of effort, but Im pleased with the idea that there are things in music you cant explain! Another miracle of this man is that Im also thinking for 15 20 years now "uhh he doesnt look good, I wonder if he can continue like that"...he did...and he is still there and probably able to pwn all the kids behind the drums! I dont know...there is something with music that keeps people fresh. I remember the old Horowitz (pianist), barely able to walk in his last years, the typical confused grandpa look/attitude, but when this 85 years old man took place in front of a piano for concerts, he suddenly was 20 years old again! He probably didnt remembered what he had eaten an hour ago, but playing the most difficult piano pieces for 90 minutes without sheets? No problem! It`s similiar with Nick. He didnt aged well and he obviously have health issues etc. but behind a drum kit, this "whale of a man" (no offense!) transforms to a young gazelle again!
