@@noahf342 LOL. He played a dogcrap schedule in 2017, lost easily to Auburn, and gets in over more deserving teams because of people just chanting SEC SEC SEC until everyone believes that verbal fart. As for 2011, LOL again - when Iowa and Illinois play a 9-6 game last week, it's an atrocious, boring game, but when Alabama loses to LSU in 2011, it's one of the greatest games ever, SEC! SEC! SEC!, and Alabama deserves a rematch even though Michigan, magically, didn't in 2006. Oklahoma State played a much tougher schedule, losing one game due to a questionable missed field goal, and had the tools to beat either LSU or Alabama. Then there's 2009, where Alabama almost loses to Texas even with McCoy out. There's 2012, where Alabama should have lost to Mark Richt but Richt brainfarted on the last series. That was also the year where an unbeaten Ohio State team didn't play because their dumb AD accepted postseason ban for that year rather than 2011. There's 2020, which is COVID season. That leaves 2015 as the only season where Saban won without ridiculous luck, a farcical regular season (2020), or nonsense SEC! SEC! SEC! homerism. Greatest SEC coach ever? @@tolivr You comment is rife with opportunities. 1) The BCS died and not bec it was liked. 2) Saban coached 27 years at P5 schools. 5 of his NCs came within 7 years (3 of 4, 2 of 3). That's 2 NCs in the other 20 years. And 1 of those was the silly covid NC. Most of the time, he wasn't great. 3) 4 of his NCs came when either he or his opponent did not win or play for their conference champ. From 2000 to 2023, that happened 6 times. How many coaches would have loved to get another shot after not winning their conf to play for a NC. 4) 9 wins against #1 AP. My list below uses wiki which combines AP and CFP.
