Playing the cymbals in this fashion helps keep the energy high in the service. If you've never been to a church like this then you won't understand what you're hearing.

Yo both my cuzins there are sick (Nick and Chris) They even sicker now and it's barely been a year or so. And trust me fellas nick can keep time with the HH's when he feels like it, but it really depends on what the song calls for.

This is "praise" music it's primary purpose to fuel the "spirit" of the worship service. The preacher is closing his sermon referred to as the "hoop" a rhythmic cadence accented by the musicians. Notice ALL the musicians focus on the preacher, because this is improvised each sermon. You'll see the organist give the other two instructions because they are moving to the altar call selection. This isn't entertainment it's worship.

Everyone knows how sick Nick is. I want to know, who was on the rodes? Is that Chris Rock on the bass? LOL. I'm just playing. I read that the bass player is Nick's brother and the organist is Nick's mom. What are there names?

You'd be wrong in that assumption. Russel Batiste Jr.(Funky Meters, PBS) employs the same style, but knows how to keep time, and feel. If you lose track of time and feel in a fill, aka stray away from the groove, then you're also losing the sway of the crowd. Another drummer to look into who would agree is JD Blair.

ok Catalyst so basically you think what you think that is good, what else do you have to say that is of any intelligence, just because he has mad power, does not mean he cannot play softer or with less licks, so chill out bud. NICK God bless play from where he put his blessing in your heart and your soul. P.S: I am still practicing man, speed and accuracy its alot of work. Take Care.
