What is it about this man that makes him so utterly convincing in every role he played ? Absolute genius

I saw Mr Williamson perform this play as a one many show in the late 70's or early 80's. He was riveting.

I have just read this play... wonderful...and now I stumble across this. Wish I had been alive to see Williamson perform this role. What a voice. He knew how to enunciate. Would be great to see this on the London stage...but who would play the lead?

One of the finest British actors of his generation, yet Nicol Williamson is barely known these days. Why??

Alex, that's why i'm painting a tribute canvas to be unveiled by his son Luke sometime this year! Dave.

I’d love to see the painting. I met Nicol a couple of times towards the end of his life.

We now have David Tennant...?!? Sums up the drastic decline in acting standards over the last 10 years. The Golden Generation who had spent years in Rep learning their craft have almost passed away. Too many to mention individually . But we know who they were....

Is this available in full on DVD?

It was turned into a film directed by Anthony Page. At one time, I believe it was available on KZitem. However, as is so often thecase with plays when they are filmed, they tend not to have the same impact. I saw the revival of this at, I believe, The Roundabout in NY and Williamson, in person, was volcanic. To this day I have no idea how he was able to do this performance 8 times a week.
