This song was inspired by the life of Jean Silva (Feb 6, 1958 - Nov 24, 2017).
I was invited by Tessari to collaborate on a soundtrack for a short film he was making. The images and story touched me deeply and inspired me to create this new piece.
Initially, I composed a longer version of the song, but I decided to create a more commercial-length version. To achieve this, I collaborated with my college teacher, Elieser de Jesus, and together, we crafted this new version.
The concept for the video emerged during an afternoon brainstorming session with my friend Julio Mendoza, who directed, captured, and edited the video. We aimed to depict the contrast in Jean's life. While he appeared to be enjoying himself surfing at the beach, we wanted to convey the idea that internally, he might have felt trapped in a metaphorical desert, isolated with only his thoughts. Despite his efforts to find happiness in small moments, he remained a prisoner of his own mind.
