The Divine Child archetype pairs well with this mentioned last stage of development. It also blends with Jung's idea that in order for a man to reach his whole/Holy form, he must reclaim the Divine Child archetype he lost, yet combine it with the realized man he's become. In this way, he transcends. I guess this idea from Nietzsche was a building block for that idea.

I read this chapter in thus spoke zarathustra when I was 16, I couldn’t find myself to understand it. Now I’m 18, I keep thinking back to it now that I have more responsibilities and experience. It’s the concept of “the camel” that interested me, I guess im in that phase where I struggle to carry the burden of responsibilities and resisting my urges, those things the camel successfully or at least tries to do. Discipline, Embodying virtues and values, having mental strength, resisting temptations…

LOTR would have a lot to say About this. It talks about this :) In metaphorical context of course. Aragorn(lion), Gimli (camel, most elves too), Frodo and the other hobbits (the child). And there's even a scene of Arargorn, the Lion, who has just transcended, realizing this fully and kneeling to the Hobbits (the archetype of the child) and his Own Inner Child, during his coronation. Tolkien was freaking brilliant
@Tom-sd9jb

Tolkien was freaking amazing. I'm glad I can agree with you on that. I strongly disagree with your LOTR interpretation - Tolkien was most certainly a "Camel" if using Nietzsche's mode of thought. His LOTR books a (not so) subtle devotional work. Dude was a strong traditional Catholic lol.

I read the book for the first time in Arabic, there's an excellent translation for it, and it uses the word " heavy " not " difficult " and I really dig that, I'm wondering why you've chosen the word " difficult " sir, I'm not a native speaker of English, but I'm an English studies student at the university, so it's important for me to clarify this, as for me the word heavy is more poetically accurate to the metamorphosis of the camel. Thank you for the great work you're providing sir, hearted thanks.
@jakubtomas4557
Жыл бұрын
Indeed, heavy is more apropriate for the camel metaphor. In original German Nietzsche uses the word "Schwer", which can be translated as heavy, hard, or difficult. If you look at the text more directly, heavy is better, as camels have to carry heavy burdens litteraly put on their backs - but don't forget that this is still a metaphor. Nietzsche is talking about our "Geist" (Soul, mind, or even ghost or spirit) as being camel-like; he is probably hinting at psychological obstacles, duties, and difficulties we have to put with and carry on our minds "as our burdens". And that is the first stage vefore you can abolish those and then become the creative "Geist". Although that is just one of many interpretations. I recently found interesting idea, that Thus Spoke Zarathustra (in which this triade of metamorphosis occurs) is a journey of uncovering one's subncosciousness and that all the metaphors are meant to signify a part of this journey. Thus: it might be a very personal (and intimate) part of this path that each one of us has to partake - and it is upon our *hard* work of introspection to figure out the exact meaning of each metaphor. And if this case is correct, then difficult is also a plausible translation that hints at this introspection aspect more directly. Anyways, I hope this somehow helps. (Sorry for misspells, as I'm sure there are many, and for me not being as clear as I'd like, but this is as most comprehensively explained as I can explain it right now.)

This breakdown was absolutely wonderful! I love how you compared to different ages having different means of understanding. For me, I see you such a growth happening within one's own lifetime often especially in training in the martial arts. At first, we take on the burden to be the camel and go through rigorous training to help strengthen the spirit and the body then we become the lion that chooses to use its Force make a name for itself or protect themselves or others. Then one becomes old but lighthearted in their training not because they are not as physically capable but because they have gained the wisdom to not take it so seriously and to enjoy themselves along the way. It is often said in the martial arts community that in order to learn something new one has to empty their cup and that is akin to tearing down the sand castle. It is a great and difficult thing for an old dog to learn new tricks but it is possible if they empty their cup. I guess this is why we are born blind, dumb and Toothless only to grow up blind, dumb and Toothless.

Glad you enjoyed it Ramil! My present thinking on your feedback is that I am going to be more thoughtful about the talking head. I'm going to include it when it has something to do with me i.e. when it is my opinion or my take on the content that is being discussed. I think it's good to be more intelligent about it and to think about what I'm doing with it rather than seeing it as the default canvas that everything else is painted on (which is kind of the journey of the channel from the beginning). So thank you for your input it's stimulated a lot in me!

@@TheLivingPhilosophy I'm really glad to read that, and I have huge respect for your ability to listen to the feedback you get and to make thoughtful changes to the way you used to do things! I think that the way of using "the talking head" - is the best because then it will be completely fine to watch you talking about something without the need to focus on some abstract thoughts. Also, it's always great to watch somebody's natural talk, when a person is expressing his/her thoughts in a way of normal speech but not in a form of reading some written text like a robot, haha) I really hope that this change will stimulate growth for the channel!💪🏻 Wish you the best!

@@TheLivingPhilosophy You didn't ask me for advice and I'm not gonna give you any but I definitely can share my own experience with you, and maybe it will be helpful. When I was recording my online course - first I was trying to write down the script and remember it word for word by heart. It was literally horrible because of two reasons. 1. I was really nervous. I was nervous due to the fact that I have to say it word for word and I was afraid to forget something, and I was forgetting, which pissed me off. But the second factor that had a huge impact on my nervousness was my fixation on the camera. Gosh, it was so unnatural and uncomfortable to be looking at the same spot for minutes. I suppose that this reaction is deeply biological. When humans were staring at one point for some lengthy time during evolution? When they were chasing something they needed or were expecting something bad to happen by the appearance of something/someone. It's okay that my fight-or-flight response was activated during my staring at the camera. So, then I watched videos of guys like Matt D'Avella, Nathaniel Drew, Better Ideas, Thomas Frank, and others. I saw that they weren't looking at the camera all the time, and when I started to let myself look at other objects and etc - I felt such a relief. 2. It was always visible that I'm reading some written text. Yeah, it's always clear when somebody is just saying a written text (remembered or with help of a teleprompter) and it's harder to comprehend this sort of speech. I don't know why but it is as it is. Then I also realized that the guys I've mentioned - definitely had well-thought and written scripts but their strategy was different. They are remembering some key points and then just go through these points in their usual way of talking to somebody, and it makes videos vivid and easy to digest right away. So I started to do it in the same way and it worked pretty well for me. I hope my experience will be useful to you!

@@ramilurazmanov Thanks Ramil. When I moved from the first 100 days of videos and went to making one or two videos a week I was trying what you were saying and I jut found that it was all over the place. Maybe it's a bit about practice as well but I just wasn't happy with the production quality. This quality improved a lot once I moved to a script. I'm curious to look at these other creators to see what they are doing. There's definitely more there to experiment with. As for the unnatural sounding-ness I think that's to do with a fundamental difference between the written and spoken word. It seems like they should be the same but one thing I've come to realise is that they really are not. I've noticed that when I am speaking off the cuff there are no full stops it is a series of looping and jumping that gets there. I dunno. I think if I research it more will emerge but it's definitely not clear to me what the right answer is and so for now I'm happy to stick with the highest production value I've come across thusfar and that's the script

Anyone collecting money for ministering in any way will die. That includes people on youtube listing cashapp and other bank account links and selling merchandise, worship songs, conferences, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING AT ALL. Reject the messages from the messenger of Malachi 3:1 and you choose to reject Jesus Christ herself and will die w the wicked. Anyone teaching the LIE of monetary tithing will die. !!! GREAT TRIBULATIONS begins Sept. 1 . . . Its for EVIL people -- anyone collecting money for ministering in any way, anyone teaching same-sex marriage is a sin when it is NOT, rich people, unrepentant rapists, those involved in corruption, etc. WORLD PEACE is coming! There is no ONE antichrist - made up by evil people that worship money. Being taken is NOT good. God's people get caught up spiritually. Jesus comes back to rule. I am Elijah of Malachi 4:5-6. Reincarnation is real. I am Elijah reincarnated in a woman's body. Jesus, David, and Joseph were all transgender and Jesus will return as a woman. Prophets said my wedding is already paid for and will be broadcasted all over the world. Giving is to be to the poor, the homeless, the less fortunate, etc. Malachi 2 proves Malachi 3:8-12 is prophetic instruction for the thieving church leaders to bring back the money they were never suposed to take for ministering and God will end Covid. Every major church around the world has known this since August of 2020 but they LOVE MONEY so much they INTENTIONALLY CHOSE TO KILL everyone w Covid instead of returning it... Mathew 19:12 says God PREFERS LGBT relationships. Male or female is determined by gender located in the brain.... STAY OUT OF THE FAKE CHURCHES IF YOU WANT TO LIVE.......

This's by far the most influential video you made, and it came at the right moment in my life. I can't thank you enough. I have a thought I would like to entertain, what if the ideology of Metamorphoses were accepted by the majority and thus it transfers into the Dragon? How will things operate? Will it collapse on itself?

Ah I'm delighted to hear it Taha! That's awesome. I think in our individualistic culture the ideology of self-creation and transcending authority already is accepted. And I think it has somewhat been integrated into the dragon but the dragon is a tricky beast and we don't see how even this goal of individuation is in itself a value of tyranny in our way. At least that's the first thought that comes to my mind

The Camel reminds me of "My burden is easy, my yoke is light." The Morman metal bar reminds me of the Tang Dynasty Zen Master Seccho's "An iron bar without a hole." Plus the story of the Ox Herder process. The Lion is freedom. Freedom from what? From an "I". A false I, a limiting I, it is a lie that freedom is in an I. The monk pupil asks the master what to do with the self, with the I. The master responds, confused. "The self? What would you want a self for?" The Dalai Lama points this very same thing out as being the way to which you break the rules properly. "Spirit and Strength." This is the alchemical fire stage of the Lion. To turn lead into gold, you must first have pure lead, nothing else. How much do you love the world? How much do you love this self you created, this "son" of yours? To free your true essence, you must "So love the world that you give it to your only begotten son." If you want to know what it's going to take to let go, to stop holding on for dear life, this is how you do it. This is the battle. The answer to what is it going to take is "everything". This is the only true "safe space". Only the Child understands. What you allow you transcend. Transcendence allows you to "Play in the Kingdom". It is in consciousness alone that we are all on a level playing field. Consciousness is what Heraclitus identified with because that is what he meant by fire. That's why the first thing, what is established first is Being itself, Awareness. Once that is established, freedom and play become possible. Hence, as I recently shared with you, "God was created in the process of creating us." The "Child" is the pure Archetype "Consciousness", unconsciousness is unknown, not non-existant, but merely not known to the child. No scale is added to what is not known, or perhaps it is better to say not identified with. The "Childs" very Being, "Awareness" Itself, is always permanently established. The Child cannot non-exist itself. Here is the prophet, the sage, the avatar, the Jesus, the Buddha, Tao, Sufi etc. With this anchor the Child is moored to the Sea Bottom, the "Depth Impenetrable", the Mystery, the Abyss, Existence or Awareness Itself. We're fuckin' brilliant!

Until I started watching videos like this and reading/ listing to more of Nietzsche. I now realize this was my journey to make my own values, my own principles to live by. To follow those principles I have for myself. To one day pass those principles on to my children. They will keep the ones they like, and the ones that won't suit them for the future they will find themselves in. They will discard, because they will have grown past me. I get more and more excited everyday only being 28. Knowing one day I will get to watch my children outshine me. My father was afraid of his children outshining his pathetic existence. It wasn't very hard for my brother and I to do. His greatest fears have come true and he doesn't even know it yet. My greatest joy was my father's greatest fear. Funny how that happened. Very funny, quite the joke.

Great vid, commenting for the algorythm. I think Ill have to rewatch as I dont think it full sunk in yet. Despite it mapping pretty well to my own understanding of my own development. I also feel like the development occurred at least twice in my life or maybe my camel stage was just a little turbulent and felt like it captured a full cycle. To say it differently I think I had moral but more rational development from age 16- maybe like 22 (like a western nihlistic/scientific to like a practical mindfulness Sam Harris mixed with the more practical ancient and eastern idea) and a more spiritual one from like 23-28 (maybe starting with a more Alan Watts approach -> Jung and myth/symbols/stories) lets say. The mapping of time and specifics "schools" are not exact but to kinda show quickly what I mean. So there are defentitly gaps of fully understanding what was said still but I see it as adopting and developing a certain code or understanding in the camel, standing by it and testing it against the more collective understanding in the lion, and in the third which is probably my least understood - it has become incorporated and a way of life without really identifying with it, like its just the medium or instrument you are playing with. This is more my mapping then anything said in particular. What do you guys think I got right or wrong?

What is self-actualization, other than the ability to be happy and a good person, without the need for anything the material world offers you. To transcend the mind by means of fully surrendering your ego and adhering to the natural hierarchy of the universe as it came directly from Gods hand

How do they know where the eggs are when sleep-baking? How do they know where the keys are when sleep-driving. Assuming the ego is not present while sleepwalking or driving we seem to do a lot better without the fear and the emotion of the ego. Any advice on how to achieve self actualization would be helpful to me. It’s a very interesting topic. I like what you said there.

I went through all those steps years ago, and I've built numerous sand castles. So far, however, only one person has ever tried to understand anything I've thought of, and only one sand castle. Edit: If anyone else thinks he's a "child" as described here, then I'd very much like to speak with him. Building new values is serious work, and it is frustrating to me that I can receive no constructive feedback. Most people don't seem to even understand the need for it, since they don't even seem to have become very good camels yet. BTW, I think it might be possible that when Jesus said you have to be like a little child to enter the kingdom of heaven, I think he may have actually meant something very similar to what Nietzsche was talking about.
@jansvoboda4293

I do not think it follows as discrete phases, but processes that are overlapping. To me, it seems that it's continuous rework of the world's mental model - dropping parts that are found not to represent reality faithfully enough and taking better representing ideas instead. Rather that than complete nihilism followed by re-creation from scratch. And the way you build "new values" is not by creating them but discovering them and deeply understanding them through living them out. I am afraid that willful engineering of values leads us to the superficial anti-values of today.
@brendangolledge8312
Жыл бұрын
@@jansvoboda4293 I do willfully create values, but they are different from the woke crowd. I believe the difference is that I seek to conform my preferences to reality, rather than the other way around. Maybe you could say that the woke does not create new values, but they attempt to create new facts, such as extra genders, or fabricated history. The first example of me deliberately changing myself was when I noticed that when I am "hangry" (which used to be a regular occurance) it means that I care more about the feeling of discomfort in my gut than I do about the people I am being grumpy with. The thought was humiliating, so it made the grumpiness go away. So I have not been hangry for several years now. Turns out it is not an innate part of the personality to allow bodily sensations to control the emotional state. A couple more examples: Offense comes from hatred of facts, so whenever I am offended, I try to find out what fact I dislike (although this hardly ever happens anymore). Envy is hatred of those that are better than you, so whenever I feel the need to belittle anyone, I go look at more of the same and tell myself about how that person is doing that thing better than me. I did put all of this together in one system, but as I said, nobody really cares. I do not think that most people practice this kind of thing. Even when I speak plainly about it, it is like it leaves no impression. I think most people have not even gotten to the point of being good camels, so that they cannot understand that devotion to a set of principles is a noble thing, so telling them that they can generate the values from within themselves is meaningless to them. It would be like if a 4th dimensional being manifested itself and spoke plainly to us, but we could not understand even though we looked right at him. I think devout Christians are good camels, and would understand what I say, but they would likely think my words were blasphemous. Some outspoken atheists appear to be genuine lions.

I really appreciate your hard work on building new values, that are both: 1) your own (in a sence that they are not categorical) and 2) originated from reality, not bending reality to support your values. Although I think that one thing is very important in the stage of lion: saying no. Because Nietzsche was a true genealogist in uncovering the roots of our moral values, judgements, and feelings, he thought that before we would replace them, we should tear the old ones down. This sounds too much romantic even for me, so let me reiterate: before we can create new values, we need to free our thinking from the old system of thought. But that doesn't mean purenegation or something similar. We ought to follow our inner feelings, find their roots, and on this basis (which should be rooted in reality) confront old values - thus we can find out, wether some of them are worth saving or not. And during that process creating new values in place of dissmised old ones. I would live to claim to be a child in Nietzsche's sence, but I'm too aware that I'm no way near that stage. (At least not yet - and not anymore.) But I think I'm on a correct way of getting there... So if you'd like to share some of your thoughts and discoveries, I'm all ears.

I was surprised that you didn’t mention the most renowned tablets - the Ten Commandments- that shaped Western Civilization. Certainly, these are the Thou Shalts that Nietszche was alluding to in Zarathustra. It is Judaism that gave birth to Christianity which changed the world completely, putting the individual at the center of his actions. That is perhaps the most revolutionary concept put forward by Judaism - the individual and ultimately responsible for their actions. Which is legacy is completely bora of this concept of a tech service step further.

I think it’s important to test grand theories like this. Also, this guy ended up nuts. I understand that an idea has an existence separate to the individual who birthed the idea, but we can consider him as a sample size of 1. Also, modern understanding of values understands that values do have a biological base. For example different personality traits are highly correlated with dispositions towards certain political values. We also know that biology makes up about 45-55% of our personality traits. Another point I’d like to make is that the understanding of tablets as value systems is a bit ambiguous. Consider that values are not created, they exist. Different value system can be created by weighting and combining different existing values. But that is not pure creation. That is creativity and experimentation. Therefore, this idea really doesn’t contend with the deepest part of the issue. Values are not created. Think about that for while before you respond to this comment.

So for him the highest state of being is one where the individual becomes disillusioned with their beliefs and creates their own belief system that is fully satisfying. But the thing that I don't understand is if someone creates their own beliefs how do those have meaning? The point of these schools is the search for meaning and truth, but if every person creates their own then it's artificial... and there is no true meaning to be found. So, does he think there is some greater truth out there to be found? Or that there is no truth and all one can hope for is self-actualization?
