I make many south Indian dishes ,though I am not from the south. Appams would be great . The texture of the dosa is different . I make it on a non stick pan you got to have tiny holes it is fermented and thinner . Yours did not ferment and more like a crepe. I am a Mumbiakar and make a variety of dishes.

Beautiful to see how we live world apart but share similarities in food wow! We also have sinasir (rice pancakes) and masa/waina in northern Nigeria which is made using fermented rice too. That tempering also applies to us, it’s almost impossible to not temper soups with either fried ghee or hot cayenne pepper ( yaji) or both. I’m amazed at the similarities though 😊

How lovely was this to watch, but oooh how beautiful it was to watch your son reach out to his great grandmother. In the Caribbean we say 'blood doesn't lose'. Children can feel the connection without truly understanding. I think you are an amazing family anyway. Much love coming from the UK❤

Tempering is a type of heat treatment used to increase the toughness of certain metals, most commonly iron-based alloys like steel. The metal being treated, using this process, is heated under its critical point temperature and then air-cooled.

To Ola's question- how did west africa and asia make the same thing? - people have migrated and mingled for ages and food has always been part of the migration. So there are many similar dishes throughout the world amongst many different cultures with similar bases. The spices and condiments have changed depending on the region and availability of spices.

U see whether it was Africa or India, we were a cultured people who did not believe in hurting others and it was this soft mentality that the barbaric mercenary Westerners took advantage of ....they destroyed our cultures, made us feel ashamed of our skin colour and brainwashed us for centuries that bcos of their white skin they are superior...even though their past civilisation is savage, uncultured, British while we have a rice cultured civilisation...it is time to stand up n feel proud

NO!!! it is Vada. And not all North Indians say it, Vada. In the eastern part, anything, which is fried with Vesan or atta or lentils mix, is called Vada, whereas that is called Pakoda in some other states. LEARN THAT IS NECESSARY BEFORE SAYING WRONG!!
