This is one my favorite songs of all the time and I only just recently discovered this version. I just couldn't help but smile. His voice, the orchestra. It was all just so lovely.

I was definitely born at the wrong time. Cole Porter is perfection and Davis Gaines is pure class.

So gorgeous when he was young. Had it all, looks, hair, voice and warm personality. Still has the voice and personality. Wish he hadn't done the plastic surgery, but what is done is done. Still same man on the inside.

Both the singer and the dance couple do an engrossing performance of the great Cole Porter's song. How refreshing!

Great arrangement by John McGlinn who spent much of his life seeking out the original arrangements of Broadway music. His masterpiece was the recreation of Showboat in its original format that was recorded 1988. For those interested, the complete performance of the concert in which this McGlinn version of “Night and Day” appeared is on the KZitem video, “Evening at Pops, Broadway Originals.”

The orchestration isn't by McGlinn it's by Hans Spialek who was the original orchestrator on the musical "Gay Divorce" and over 50 other musicals including Rodgers and Hart's "Babes In Arms" , "Pal Joey" "The Boys from Syracuse" and Cole Porter's "Anything Goes", "Let's Face It" and "Something For the Boys".

@ecollie2 This is the Boston Pops and judging from the first violinist, it would be from the 90's. I believe this was shown on the Evening at Pops series on PBS.

This is nice, but Fred Astaire owns this song. He introduced it in the original musical in 1932 and sang it in the 1934 film version, as well as dancing with Ginger Rodgers. I find that instrumentation and arrangement to be better than the original musical, actually. It's more interesting and varied, and has a much better ending. The clip is on KZitem.

Wonderful melody but I feel the performance and the orchestration a bit chocolate boxy. I can see Julie Andrews singing to this arrangement and slaughtering the song with her over articulate enunciation.
