The days when women wrote screenplays, got top billing and the bit players were decent journeymen actors. Thank you for your time and effort ! June 2022

Just a few years before this, Evelyn Brent was the queen of the Paramount Studios, and here she's at the bottom of the cast list. It goes away quick, folks.

A great story paced just right so as to make it easy enough to follow and yet have suspense kept at the right level. Of course "The Great Profile" and Charles Bickford add icing to the cake.

Slick plot. Barrymore didn't have much of a part but he was quite convincing as a scoundrel. Interesting that he was trying to quit smoking. This was 1937.

Swell flick. Good story. Barrymore some 10 yrs after his melodramatic silent days plays a good solid part. Bickford as chief detective was spot on. Lynne Overman as the reporter got off some great lines as did Cecil Cunningham as Mrs Alvin. As fan of Evelyn Brent, it's always good to see her no matter the role or billing. Thanks BC. Very enjoyable.

Lovely movie. I cannot believe my mom was 2 years old when it was filmed Why are today’s movies full of nudity and violence and foul language?? Why do actors and actresses have to shower naked?? Who said people want to see naked bodies blood and sex Even if, what about the ones who do not like such movies?? All we can watch are cartoons lol!!

There must have been sociological studies of the reason for these type-cast characters in Hollywood from that epoch, such as here the obnoxious brash drunken reporter who discovers stuff. But nowadays they just come across as unbelievable obnoxious jerks. Really, they are tiresome. But that role must have meant something to the audiences in the day. In addition here, there seems to be the implied incestuous relationship between the brother and sister which sort of distinguishes it.

Folks who seem to think of everything in terms of politics are quite concerning. Do you ever just live your life? You’ve all turned this into a real-life soap opera with much more on the line-our freedom. I pray that China, Russia or N Korea aren’t paying attention because if they are, then they’d know that this country is a sitting duck for communists and other anti-democracy countries. Sadly it looks like we are going to have to get taught a lesson instead of coming together and dropping the ridiculous political BS!
