“Night of Miracles” (the original, complete recording) is a classic Christmas musical/cantata written by John W. Peterson in 1958. Singspiration Music Company, of which Peterson served as president for about 10 years, not only produced the printed cantata material but also released the work as an LP on their Zondervan label featuring Ralph’s “full symphonic orchestra” of 48 players (what they called his “brilliant orchestral adaptation”) plus a 26-voice choir. It was recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood and quickly became a classic of sacred Christmas music. The soloists on the project (uncredited) include: Bill Lee (Baritone), Marilyn Powell (Soprano) and Bill Cole (Tenor) with Robert Clark serving as the narrator. Twenty years later, with the advent of multi-track recording, Zondervan asked Don Wyrtzen to re-record the project so that separate tracks could be created to make it easier for local churches and soloists to perform this groundbreaking musical.
