I found this by accident while looking for the one from Fantasia. It’s beautiful though, I can’t believe it was made using pins

Can somebody, ANYBODY tell/explain to me how this was made? This is absolutely amazing....not to mention the scenes that are just straight up nightmare fuel lol. Mr. Beck I really wish you would utilize your description box, giving us more details as to what we're watching and from what country/time frame.

The film was created in France in 1933 by the Russian director A. A. Alekseev in collaboration with Claire Parker to the music of Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" The film is made in the "needle screen" technique invented by Alekseev. The technique resembles "live engravings".

Also there was Russian cartoon "Ночь на лысой горе"(night on a bald mountain) made in 1998-after Fantasia. But there all events are in the sky, and all witches, sorcerers, their horses pigs goats, chorts(demonlike creatures in slavic mythology. They're lovers of witches) are clouds, rushing in a frenzied gallop

I really like those animations. This is a true horror. But the movie was too chaotic for me.

I learned about this short from Mindy Johnson’s “Ink & Paint” and I’m glad I decided to watch it! It was a wonderful pre-Halloween treat and an intriguing piece of animation history. I find it especially interesting that aspects of this short feel almost “modern” in terms it’s of editing techniques, but I suppose that just goes to show what people find unnerving in film hasn’t changed as much as we believe.

Это маленький шедевр режиссера Алексеева. Трудно поверить, что этот фильм был снят в 1933 году.
