Reminds me a Toshiba laptop I used to work on. The sales brochure claimed the chassis used a honeycomb structure for rigidity and lightness. The little panel door that covered the memory and HDD had the honeycomb pattern on the inside surface of the panel. But when I removed the entire back panel of the laptop to access the system board, the panel was just a regular smooth panel of magnesium like any other laptop. So, like maybe 2% of the laptop actually used a honeycomb pattern in it.

These released last year and they've been discounted for a while now. Usually after the first 5-6mos of a Nike release you can find some good sales. Great video ~ taking the time to find the truth of the shoe is great to see. As a person with a large and flat foot, this in-depth study definitely matters to me and I appreciate what you're doing. I remember when this shoe first came out. This colorway is fresh in my book. But Nike has never and I mean never, been great regarding comfort to me. Before I started wearing orthotics when I was young and wasn't feeling pain in my feet, Nike didn't understand comfort. And after I started wearing orthotics for my flatfeet in my late teens, they still hadn't grasped it. They grasp style. They have legendary history that connects with pop culture. But they simply do not understand what it is to build for comfort. And even with orthotics, the comfort in a shoe still matters. While this bubble feature on the shoe looks appealing, it's nothing but eye candy to me that doesn't give lasting comfort. Especially that supposed bubble under the heel. I can tell that doesn't do much of anything. Just as you guys said, it would seem as if heel pressure would disperse air within the bubble underneath to the bubble we can visibly see to give more comfort to your heel as it lands on the ground, but even that effect looks minimal if not giving anything at all. And in cutting it, we can see the truth. While every shoe eventually wears out its welcome with use over time, shoe companies can often fool people with aesthetics when the shoe really isn't much of a gamechanger. And as you get older, that matters more and more, especially if you value comfort and a softer touch in a shoe. I personally don't wear Nike anymore because of that, but I still appreciate some of the great styles and colorways they often have from a distance. My go-to athletic shoe these days tends to be Asics with their built-in orthotic style soles for flatfeet like the Asics Gel-Kayanos and others. I'd love to see a video done for the latest Asics running shoe for flatfeet runners and gym-bodies.

there was an article last year on a distance runner having their time cut down by some big name manufacturer's new tech in shoes; concept is energy return. i am not sure if i remember correctly but i think there was basically a spring built into it which might suck for your bandsaw. seeing some of that broken down would also be different as i think a number of these things are normally ultralight so it's like a knitted sock upper with all the technology in the sole.

There's a really weird lag in time between new tech being introduced and professional regulating bodies realizing that a tiny fraction of those new introductions are actually having an impact that needs to be curbed somehow. This is due in part by the business of advertising new product innovations (for clout) which largely don't make an impact, as well as the very blurry distinction between a product improvement and an unfair advantage in sport. I agree re good cushion - especially after massive back surgery fusing 10 cervical and thoracic verebrae in 2020, which meant I needed to learn how to walk again, a process made easier and more enjoyable thanks to a brand new pair of comfortable right out of the box RedBack boots. The Saucony and ASICS runners I used to buy also gave me that, as have my RedBack Boots - none of them have involved gimmicky features which creatd the illusion of being so much better and more comfortable than anything else, and often at higher cost. Back in the day I ran with a pair of the early Nike airs, and found them inferior to the (one and only pair) of Brooks I had been wearing. Of course everyone's experience varies. Having said that, I am thankful that on this site we get some pretty objective and well informed perspectives (which is why I got the RedBacks once I got of hospital)!

@@Jaburu Maybe you dont a strong stride in your whole leg that need that strong step, maybe. Or maybe is jist me. And i never said i like the imbalance. I actually have plain flat, intermediate, and firm steady cushion/with the shame of my feet sandals and i like them all. So it depends on preferences!

@@AuslanIz It is preference, but also fashion made us used to the heavy cushioning when people startet using running/basketball shoes on the street. I bought and returned these because 1) while they were actually quite functional for damping heel strikes, helping my back condition greatly (and I am considering buying another pair for back flare ups), 2) the main flaw is how far back the air unit hangs which just over-leverages the ankle and hence shin muscles, especially if walking downhill. The front of the shoe and transition to it could be better but those are nowhere near the problem of basic ankle geometry. It’s a 10 in concept and I hope they improve on it. Great vid!!👏👏

As much as I like a good boot, you cannot beat a good sneaker for all day/week comfort be it a Nike, Adidas Boost, NB Freshfoam etc

Something I’d like to see is a pair of shoes built as if they were made by Oregon loggers, but meant for the city. Low cut, with large lugs Vibram’s soles, quality tanned leather and very sturdy for inner city hiking in subways and along sidewalks. Kind of like an Oregon Logger’s light hiker.

I remember when I couldn't find "real" running shoes any more and I got a pair of Asics that had really high heels (like everything else at the time). I brought them home and tried to wear them but they freaked out my feet and body so much I ended up throwing them away and I put the insoles in the rubber boots. Really bad shopping mistake, but that's all that was available at sport shoe places. Since then, I only wear skate shoes, mostly Vans or anything with a zero rise heel. I want to convert my delaminated (accidentally) by heat soles on my 20 year old Timberland boots to zero rise heel. The heel is ok on the bike and I wore them for hiking around steep stickery dirt locations, but not for long hikes. What's with the heel thing anyway? So they can then they charge you an arm and a leg if its "zero rise heel"?

If you like zero rise heels check out xero shoes, feel grounds shoes, lems, and vivobarefoot. It’s called “zero drop” from heel to toe.

@@kayleeimp Oddly once they taut them as zero drop (which seems like a misnomer) the price goes way up. Target's got nice canvas women's sneakers that are completely level, and they do wear out quick, but you can sometimes get them on clearance when they change seasonal colors. I also have a pair of speedo water shoes (cheap onsale from Big 5). I can walk miles in those with a little extra insole (I have 30 yr old sorboair insoles that are still pretty nice!). Nice to dance in if you are seeing live music, too. I like Vans as they last longer and you get bang for your buck, but they are best when nearly worn out, so I will mend those a bit.
@kayleeimp

@@OWK000 yeah of course I can understand that! I love vans, but the only difference between those is that they are extremely narrow in the toe area. So with the zero drop shoes they allow for your toes to spread and bend as they were meant to. But everyone has their preferences! Vans and converse are classics!

@@kayleeimp The cheap Target canvas sneakers have nice round toe room and the Speedo water slippers are roomy and stretchy w/room for insoles even. I have short, even toes and wide metatarsals myself and I cannot wear old fashioned pointy Keds or Converse for instance. I am heavy boned and find mens shoes better proportioned and better fitting for my feet, but I like the Target women's canvas minimalist sneakers. These are just nice budget choices. I would love some Lems, tho.

I would LOVE for u to do any Nike Kyrie shoes and, or Nike adapt shoes. Nike Adapt Auto Max maybe? Or the Nike Kyrie 5,6,7, or 8. I believe most of Kyrie's are leather and textiles. Would LOVE to see EXACTLY what the textiles even are!

Cause I knew NOTHING about leather, thanks to u, I know alot now. Keep doin ur thing my boy! 👍 I've NEVER seen a video like urs on sneakers before, ur GREAT! U give sooo much information and really test everything. I'm subscribing FOR SURE! I saw just one of ur videos, then proceeded to watch another 9 of urs ina row lol. Even the ones were I don't like or I'm not interested in the shoe ur testing. I'm sooo glad I stumbled upon ur channel bro. I LITERALLY learned so much from u today. Presciate u bro! 👊 Edit- I would LOVE for u to do any Nike Kyrie shoes and, or Nike adapt shoes.
